I came across Legend of the Legendary Warriors last week which came out about 2 months ago and it is quite fantastic.

Letter Bee seems to be the only thing to catch my interest from that list along with Magical Index of which I will probably look into the first season.

I dont remember that part, but the females in the beginning weren't extremely well developed, but most of them now have their own goals and most(save like one or two) are pretty strong characters.

Now, yeah there are sexists comments at the beginning, specially from Takagi, who is worlds above everyone else academically in the beginning. They were also rather young then. Takagi has grown.

Some of it's culture. Some of it's opinions of the business(theres quite a bit of talk about how females had started getting interested in shounen and how it's changed the industry), heck some of it is your typical manga stereotyping.

Then again, it's not surprising from the death note duo since they commonly have characters with opinions similar. Take Light, who used basically all his female companions and saw them as nothing but pawns.

I don't remember that specific page, but are you sure Takagi (writer guy) wasn't just talking from a "What will sell in Shounen Jump" sense?

It was from a section near the beginning where he was telling Mashiro why Miho was a good catch. Saying that he knew she wasn't dumb, because dumb girls take a ton of notes, but she was attractive because she held back her grades. He also commented that Iwase was really unattractive to him since she was always trying to best him. He also said some more blatantly sexist stuff saying Miho would be happier as she'll make a great wife one day and marriage is a womans happiness. Honestly, it's not the worst I've seen out of a shounen manga as it seems to be a cultural thing with men in Japan.

You know, I was thinking about watching that anime once I'd finished up the three series I'm about five episodes from finishing.
