Oh thank god people are talking about it here I have been just on such a spaz these last couple of days.
It's been building up pretty clearly to the idea that there would be a timeskip, but I don't know that anyone was expecting a 2 year jump. I bet some of the younger guys will have a shift in appearance, since even later teens still have some maturing to do. Also, if Franky rebuilds himself again, there's a high chance of a shifted appearance there, too. And let me say, if Brook stays as a circus freak this entire time, I will be SO PISSED, seriously, the guy has gone through enough misery already. I am a little uncertain about this whole haki thing--I don't mind it in nature, since it's clearly been there since the very beginning (as P-dawg said), but it's obviously bringing a whole new level to the fights in this series. Things were fine enough with "LOOK MY POWERS ARE POWERFUL 8D", though I do like the implication that it's possible to be a Badass Normal and still get ahead in this world. |

Badass Normal is pretty much what garp and Shanks are, right?

Yes, along with such BAMFs as Raleigh, and it looks as though Coby is on his way there, too. I've been disappointed in the past, though, when characters who seemed pretty badass and potentially Fruitless have decided to reveal late in the game "naw I control EARTHQUAKES" or the ever-bizarre "I can turn into a FUCKING HUGE BUDDHA for some reason"

Uhm... Just sayin, WB was Badass because he was FRIGGIN WB!
The mustache cannot be denied! In regards to Haki, I have enough confidence that Haki is going to be used to supplement the fights considerably. Most of the crew may get a little Haki but think about Usopp (our base level) getting a Haki powerup to his slingshot. I'm sure that Haki won't over step the natural abilities of the SHs (like the Saiyan blood did DBZ) but it's pretty much great to see all of the SHs take this seriously. |

1. We've known whitebeard controls earth-quakes for a long time now.
2. Just because he controls earth-quakes, doesn't mean he can't fight hand to hand. 3. WB does all his awesome shit, even though he's hooked up to an IV most of the time. Also, I am definetly sure that Usopp will have Haki attached to his slingshot simply because they mentioned that Haki is what the amazons attached to their arrows on Amazon Lily. Also, is it possible that CP9 members used Haki?

I thought they explained that what they used was actually pretty much like crazy muscle control and blasting air pressure waves out with it to go super fast, shield themselves and shoot things. But it's totally possible haki was somehow involved, except that to hurt Luffy they did seem to use claws or crush him into walls and shit, rather than just outright punch through his defences like Garp can.

I never said that WB wasn't a complete and total badass. Did I say that? No. I just said that instead of being a badass guy who can swim, he's a badass guy who can control earthquakes, and I wouldn't be upset to see more people in the former category.
Considering that Raleigh was able to just flick Luffy in the head and have it hurt, while CP9 used their Finger Guns and just had it bounce uncomfortably against Luffy, I don't think they've unlocked that ability yet. Though I wouldn't be surprised to be totally proven wrong, who knows with Oda. |

I'll say that Lucci had Haki to a small degree. Remember, his Shigun was hurting Luffy left and right. I know that those battles helped awaken Luffy's haki. And after such a huge battle, where Lucci and co lost, I wouldn't be surprised if they came back with their own developed haki powers.

In my opinion, every aspect of Whitebeard's character was worth it for the one moment where he first uses his devil power where I was forced to yell at the book, "He broke the air!"

One thing that I'm unsure about Haki. The conquerer Haki, can anyone use it? When Luffy knocked out all those amazon they said it's a one in a million to have, then it was played off as being extra special any time after. According to Rayleigh it's just another form of it though.
