Rock Paper Shotgun linked to this band a couple weeks ago and I think its pretty sweet. http://corporaterecords.co.uk/artists/Spoiler+Alert!/ Its a band from the UK that has songs about DC superheroes. Sadly there is only 3 tracks up there but they are pretty incredible (especially the Booster Gold one).

In Defense of the Genre by Say Anything is a fantastic album. It's a twenty-seven track album that boasts impressive songs the likes of which you're usually not lucky enough to see once on an album. It's a masterpiece to say the least.

Oh, also Thrice's alchemy index, volume 1-4 are 4 6-track albums based on the 4 "Classic" elements. Fire is angry and has generally heavier music, water is depressing/insightful with more electronic music, air is... well Air's depressing, with... airy? music. Earth is bluesy, and I really can't tell you what the songs have in common.
