What the fuck is wrong with this school?
Michael just watched a scene with what appeared to be his classmates, based on his homeroom teacher Landry being mentioned so much, and some other group of students. Lots of unnecessary yelling, attitudes and personalities you'd only except on television, one of them pulled a bat out of nowhere for a weapon, and Michael could have sworn colored lights were flashing around them. Along with Landry having a battle axe in the morning, the weird foreign art teacher, and that creepy girl with her possessed doll; Michael was beginning to think he might not need high school. The confused student had been so dumbfounded by the events he watched that he had forgotten to finish his meal. Slightly sad that his food was no cold, Michael continued to eat anyway. He was still hunger, and things seem to keep happening in this area, so he might get another show.

The thin white fabric of Hannah's summer dress fluttered around her knees as she strode toward one of the exits to the Cafeteria, the muscular form of Zet following close in her wake. Expression smug and pleased, Hannah was already deciding how she'd celebrate tonight's victory. Maybe a bubble-bath, with some scented candles! Her smile widened, And when tomorrow's over, I'll be rid of that horrible-
A weak burst of wind started her from her happy plans. Hannah's expression tightened, strands of her blond hair stirring in the faintly blue gust. "Wha-" "Don't think I didn't notice what you just did." The quiet boy from the table with the rest of Professor Landry's class was blocking the doorway. To Hannah's eyes, flickering pale blue light outlined the child's body - A controlled manifestation!? - signalling that this unexpected burst of wind was anything but natural. Hannah shifted her stance, crossing her arms impatiently. Apparently, she reflected with, thoughts stained with bitterness, Landry's delinquents don't know when they've lost. Zet moved to interpose himself between herself and the faintly glowing youth, obviously expecting a fight. "Can't say I'm surprised, though." Jackson continued, without so much as introducing himself. "As sure as you may be in Shuyin's victory, you're not that certain about your own-" Hannah's lips cracked in a smile, her stance softening slightly. "-which is why you decided that the victor of your duel should be decided by Shuyin's and Landry's." Jack went on, seemingly confident in his observations. "But that's not good enough. There's not much point to having that duel at all if there's no actual stakes..." The youth went on for a short time, during which, Al caught up to Hannah and Zet. "Deal?" Jack politely extended his hand. "Look brat." Hannah replied sharply, "I'm only going to explain this once. If Landry loses the duel tomorrow, the School's Rule book -" She snapped her fingers, the clear polish on her nails glinting in the room's lighting. In response, Zet reached into one of pockets of his cargo pants and withdrew a slim white volume. He offered it to Jack. "- states that should a pair of Teachers enter into competition on the Field of Honour, the loser will be fired, and the winner will be given the right to decide what happens to the loser's students." "If you want me to though," Hannah shrugged, "I'll agree that if my duel ends before Professor Landry and Shuyin's does, the usual Student Format Duel Rules will take effect - provided of course," she raised a finger, "at least one member of each team remains enrolled in the school. If either the losing team, or the winning team is expelled, the entire Duel becomes null and void." "Oh, and," Hannah grinned, "you'll also have to fight on Jay's team." She tossed her blond hair, "'There's not much point to having that duel at all if there's no actual stakes.' Right?"

Excellent. Jackson's smile widened. "Thank you." He said gratefully, taking the book that Zet offered him. "Good to know these things."
He quickly skimmed the Student Format Duel Rules to make sure that, yes, if either team were no longer enrolled the entire Duel would be null. "Yes, agreed. See you tomorrow, then." He began to walk back toward his classmates, book in hand and with no intention of giving it back. Hannah still had her own ass securely covered, but he didn't seriously expect her to take any risks. "Oh," he said, turning back to Hannah. "and I don't know what you're smiling about. I'm taking a bitch down a few pegs, so I've got that to feel happy about. I don't know what you've accomplished here, seeing as we were all going to be expelled anyway, right?" -------------- Jack's nervousness returned slightly, when he caught up with his classmates. "So, uh... I've got good news and bad news. The good news is that if your duel with her ends before Landry's and Shuyin's, and you win even if Landry loses, it still counts as a loss for them. The bad news is that the Duel is rendered null if either team has no members enrolled in the school. Also, I have to be on your team, Jay. If it's any consolation, I'm pretty good at taekwondo and I have some tricks up my sleeve like the ones I pulled in class." Jack let out a fake sigh. "Unfortunately, that's all I could get. That's about all the rules will allow." He waved the slim white book absentmindedly. He skimmed the book again. "A bit of silver lining is that the rules on duels aren't very clearly defined. A lot of it comes down to the observing teacher's discretion." Looking around, he noticed Dalbach was gone. "Maybe someone should pass this info to Dal. He seems like the kind of person who'd find some loopholes we can exploit."

Even before he'd laid eyes on her, Kohana'd been itching meet this girl, the one giving the rousing speech at the top of the stairs. Now that he'd laid eyes on - and succeeded in startling - her, he just couldn't resist pushing it further.
-Well, what the hell,- he thought, giving both girls another grin. He looked over his shoulder at Sean, giving the youth a quick appraisal before grinning at him. "Kohana Akecheta, pal. I'm in Landry's class too, but I got a little lost today. I'm sure she'll forgive me, right?" He chuckled softly, and shrugged. "If not, well, I'll just have to convince her otherwise, right? Oh, excuse me a second." He threw his duster in the air as he sized up Miss Fletcher, who was busy with dusting herself off and rambling on about battle axes and sociopaths and reapers. None of that really affected Kohana right now, and so it bounced right off that broad shouldered chest of his. He caught the duster as it fell, arms sliding through the sleeves with practiced ease. Now semi-covered, he gave Sean only a "Hey watch this" wink and a grin. He'd been in view of the camera since he stepped up to shake hands with Adeline and Diana, but now he was practically right on top of Adeline. If she'd thought the flash of abs before was distracting... Kohana was close enough that, had she leaned forward just a hair, she would've been buried in muscle. Taking advantage of her distracted state was almost too easy, and would hopefully prevent him from being beaten -too- badly. In a single, swift motion, the youth reached for Adeline's arm, pulled her gently up and into a very solid embrace, and pressed his lips firmly to hers. The Kohana Deep Kiss Special from this range was almost completely unavoidable, and irresistible! |

"Professor Shuyin will expel a classload of first year students because they have been in the presence of one woman for a few hours?" a quiet voice said.
Jo moved into sight, crossing from behind the looming bulk of Al like an iceberg into a major shipping lane. "That's so uncouth." she sighed, hands in the pockets of her jeans and her dark eyes downcast. "I'd honestly thought more of him." "Jo Imirsdotter by the way." the slight, pale girl said, looking up and essaying a wave. * * * Earlier in the evening, but only a little, Jo was perched on a rooftop, overlooking the Field of Honour. The view from up here was excellent. She'd watched the sunset and confirmed that it was an excellent place to monitor the Field of Honour from. The jotun intended to keep a close eye on the proceedings tomorrow. She kicked her legs and then let them dangle over the edge of the roof again. This morning had been odd. Her classmates had been a mixed bag of interesting and frustrating, Professor Landry might be completely insane and they were now involved in a duel with another class that would end in one teacher being fired. And then she'd spent the rest of the morning talking with Sean, moving the rest of her belongings into the dorm and sorting out gear for tomorrow. She was still missing so many things. Her tour of the clubs had crystallised a few decisions. On top of the Art, Ice Sculpture and Costume Making Club, she'd added a few more. She'd been wanting to add some sports and had signed up for basketball and the swim team. She thought she'd seen that bossy girl at the pool, come to think of it. She was still considering her options for clubs of a more warlike bent, but she was certain that it would be valuable given Landry's teaching style. Finally, after a cryptic conversation, she'd joined the Strolling Club. There was a slight noise behind her. "You shouldn't be here." Jo said back over her shoulder. Jo shrugged, advancing a few more steps. "No-one's going to come up here." she replied. She stretched. "Just taking a break. Plenty more people to meet and more clubs to see." "I'm amazed we got as many done as we did today." the sitting Jo admitted. "No Shark Fighting Club yet." her twin regretted. "Tomorrow's another day." * * * Some distance outside the cafeteria, Shinobu ran into Jo headed the other way. "Oh good evening," Jo said to the tall, muscular girl. Another interesting figure, although one she hadn't seen at the classroom. "I think I've seen you around." From a rooftop, while surveying the grounds, was something she didn't add. "You're Shinobu, right? Were you sick this morning?" she asked. "I'm in your class." Jo said, putting out her hand to shake. "Jo Imirsdotter."

From his seat Jay watched as the battle terms began to shift. First it changed from his initial thought of one-on-one to three-on-three, which immediately brought to mind Professor Landry and her assigned group. If he, Dean, and Dal were to fight them, and even better win, then that would be a big boon to all their grades. Dal repeated his thoughts and added things he didn't need to be told about the girl before he could say them out loud and took off. The troublesome thing being that he seemed set on not being in the fight.
He would have argued this point, but Jack apparently had chased after the girl to argue terms, and now he was stuck on the squad. So it would be himself, Dean, and Jack. He stood up, having successfully stolen enough food from everyone to have had barely enough to maintain himself, "I was hoping for something else, but this'll do. Do me a favor and drop by Dean's room and tell him he has permission to haphazardly beat the shit out of two burly bastards tomorrow and I think we'll have him set." He sighed as he rubbed his brow looking to the direction which Dal fled, he'd have to discuss this shit with him later. After all knowing how you are going to cheat was worthwhile, and he wondered if he noticed the way that Al had looked at him before. The bodyguard was obviously hungry for some pale Irish manmeat, and they could likely use that to their advantage if he could convince the prettyboy to be a little bit more glamorous. He stared at his bat and wondered if he should bring a wooden one tomorrow, he loved the crack sound they made when they hit something hard. But he always seemed to break them, "Jack, if you'd like we can take in some 'batting practice' down at the field. Otherwise I'm going to just face off with a pitching machine and hit the sheets. Got too much anticipation. Can barely hold it in." And he was grinning big as he took off, there was a lot to do. Far too much. It was perfect.

"Yeah, I'm rooming with Dean. I'll talk to him about it when I see him." Jack told Jay.
"I don't know about practice. However Hannah's minions are built, Shuyin is the one who's going to pick the nature of our duel, and I doubt he'd pick something Hannah were bad at. Especially if they're expecting us to show up with a bunch of muscle." "Are you sure about taking Dean, though? There's nothing wrong with some extra brawn, but we might want to bring a little more brain." Jack quirked his brow in thought. "Dunno who else we could bring, though." Ms. Fletcher was a possibility. She didn't have much in the way of muscle, but from what he read in her aura she probably wouldn't have much trouble dealing with one of Hannah's bodyguards. But maybe not. Jackson himself wasn't exactly pumped out, so it probably would be a good idea to bring someone else with muscle. He just hoped that person had a brain as well.

"Look, I may not seem it but I got a good head on my shoulders. I'm just a little bit uncouth is all. You don't gotta have manners to be smart. Just to look smart."
He proceeded to tap his head with his baseball bat as he said this, which might have made him seem a bit more like a caveman with a new shiny club you can use to beat people with, rather than the educated lout he was trying to convince Jackson he was, "Keyline is that I don't know the rules of a duel in this place, and I don't know where to find them. So I decided that the best option was to assume it was a fight. She used the word fight after all. And when it comes to a fight, even when there are rules, someone who has a degree of experience in fighting other people is a good thing to have. Besides I do have a personal stake in this bringing the Scot, I get to watch how he moves so I can examine how to whip his ass later, and Landry will think we are closer as a team because of it. Everybody wins, unless we lose." He shrugged that was the thought process in its entirety, by his logic it was the best course of action, but Jack might have been right about bringing someone who was perhaps trivia smart or something like that. Maybe the film girl or something, but otherwise he was just a bit too unfamiliar with this situation to go much further than word of mouth, "Got anything that could help?

"Maybe someone should pass this info to Dal. He seems like the kind of person who'd find some loopholes we can exploit."
Sao claimed the rulebook from Jack, flipping it open curiously. "I'll take it to him." Nothing in her tone hinted at her intentions. The rulebook was dropped unceremoniously into her gym bag, cushioned by the yards of green silk that shaped her normal outfits. "I would also consider Shinobu as a replacement for Dean, but it's up to you." The undine stood and collected Hannah's trash, piling it back onto her dropped tray. It would be rude to the cooks if the table wasn't properly bussed. "I'm glad I had the opportunity to meet you two. It would be a pleasure to see where the year takes you both - if you don't get expelled tomorrow, that is." She smiled, "I'll see you at homeroom." --- Once again clad in the green silks of this morning, the young woman stood before the door to dorm room 13-11. The top of the rulebook peeked out of a small, decorated shoulderbag - she had left her gym bag and track suit in her room. After a moment to gather her courage, Sao knocked lightly on the door.

A particularly upset oni stomped along the path back to the dorms. Hearing nothing but her own thoughts, she resembled an angry bull more than anything else. Not that she cared about that at the moment.
So engrossed in her thoughts, she nearly stormed past an extremely pale girl without noticing. "Oh good evening." Shin spun to greet the snow-white wonder with a glare. "The Hell do you want?" Jo did succeed in stoping the angry march of the oni, though. "I think I've seen you around." Oh, right, the hair. Shin visibly relaxed a little, anger beginning to drain from her form. That's when she noticed the girl's eyes. They were pitch black. Shin's current thought was caught by curiosity, when it was interrupted, "You're Shinobu, right? Were you sick this morning?" Lifting an eyebrow, the oni glanced sideways at the stranger. "How do you know my name?" It was only a day, and this girl wasn't in the cafeteria... "I'm in your class, Jo Imirsdotter." Oh. How many more people did she not notice in the room? "You can call me Shin." Accepting the offer, the oni's hand practically engulfed the jotun's and shook firmly. The cold touch didn't shorten the action, but caused a few hairs to rise along Shin's arm. "Hahah, stick your hand in a freezer or somethin?" Those eyes were creepy though. As fascinated as she was with the black pits, combined with the cold touch it put her on edge again. Best not make an enemy of ice-ghostie chick. Jo didn't *look* Japanese, but the oni's association with her home lore couldn't be shaken. "Eeeh...nevermind." Her brain scrambled to find a new topic. "And naw, I slept in. Did I miss anythin?" Let's not make an enemy out of something that can kill you, idiot. Maybe she wasn't a yuki-onna, but maybe she was. The ogre wasn't going to take that chance.
