It wasn't a puppet master movie for sure. It wasn't Westworld (That's Robot Cowboys) or The Valley of Gwangi (Too old).
Hmm... more details... hmm... I do remember the movie was centered around a house. Was it inherited..? Hmm maybe. And the movie was definitely from the late 80s due to the time frame I saw it in. EDIT: DEAR GOD THAT'S IT SYNC.

I remember the videotape cover art for the House movies.
It seems like they were misleadingly unsettling, judging from the trailer? Looks like a somewhat lighter tone than I would have imagined from seeing the floating, decayed hand that was on them, anyway.
