Yes, but the riddle also never said which legs to count, it could have meant how many were on the ground, which are 12, or how many in the baskets, which would depend on whether the kittens are in the basket or not. It mearly asks how many legs are there, and of all the creatures mentioned in the riddle the answer is 6060. So because of how this riddle is worded, there are multiple answers.

this is a variation off of the other doors problem.
there are two doors
one leads to death, the other to freedom
there is a gaurd in front of each door
one gaurd always lies, the other always tells the truth
you may ask one gaurd one question
what do you ask and why

If you were the other guard, which door would you go through. This is the only way that i know to get the same answer from both of them. You go throught the door that they do not say, because the one who tells the truth is now truthfully telling lies, and the one who tells lies is now lying about the truth, therefore lies, they both lie and you go throught the other door.
