Warrior Within wasn't that bad, at least gameplay-wise it was more of the same kickass stuff. The story was disappointing, but Two Thrones redeemed that somewhat that for me.
I actually heard this game starred the "real" PS2-era Prince and takes place between Sands of Time and Warrior Within. I'd much prefer that over a retroactive introduction to the Prince's brother (if he had a brother, it'd just be stupid for the good old Prince not to have mentioned it.)

I'm pretty sure the Prince having a brother - with his own kingdom for no reason considering I'm 99% sure that's not how Persian royalty works - is a total retcon.
And on Warrior Within: IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII STAND ALOOOOOOONE! The third was the best gameplay wise, yeah, and I did like the instant-kill system, but I hated A - the chariot races which were unexciting, B - changing Farah from a personable strong female to an emotionless Action Girl, and C - Dark Prince segments, which timed you on the puzzles but yawned him through combat.

I'm actually very happy with what Warrior Within did for the battle system in the series (except for the fact that you can basically choke people to death) but the reason for the condolences was that he probably bought it fully expecting a similar game.
The main strengths of SoT for me were the platforming, the enjoyable characters and the atmosphere. WW ruined two of those, and what it added back didn't make up for what was lost. Two Thrones brought back Fun Prince (TM), made it more storybook-ish again, kept the awesome combat... and then added in Chariot Racing and weird Dark Prince combat, which brought it back down to par with SoT in my mind. New PoP was a fun enough game in my opinion, but it was too easy and I miss the time control. The nonlinearity was unnecessary as well and it just needlessly complicated the game for me. |

FRONT KICK OF DOOM!

Bugger to the chariot races. I could have done without that. Dark Prince was a unique little thing, but damned if I found decent uses for him. It's kinda like you're forced to use him and you have to make due with what's in front of you, which really just annoyed me.
The first was still the best. My ish with the second is the fact that the Prince is ALLLL ALOOOONE for so much of it, that I could have cared less about the other characters running around. Then, in the end, when you're lead to the third one, it's like they wasted a character! Ubi could have done a better job, I believe. |

Hey, I liked the Dark Prince. The whip combat was hard to get used to, but his bits were usually pretty fun. And the chariot races? There's two. They're each, what, less than five minutes?

Ugh, See, now looking at this really makes me want to jump from Ubisoft, even though they're pretty much my favorite game developer ever. Seriously, they have a good track record, this could be a good game, just bad execution of said game, which would suck.
I liked the whole premise of using different princes with different main gimicks, I have'nt played the new one to see how it was, but I know I like the Sands Series ending and them moving on with it.

Yes the Dark Prince is alright. I just wish he wasn't forced on me where I have absolutely no control over his moments. It's like Ubi just came to slap me off a pedestal when it turns 4th of July. |

Am I the only one who has extended periods without the internet and likes being able to play their games at such times? That's why I like Steam's Offline Mode. This is just silly, Ubisoft. «Sorry for the minor derail» |

Doesn't make it any less fucking stupid, especially when Shadee shows up wearing a bikini made out of steel.
