The weirdest feeling I have watching this debate is that the rules (if not the moderators themselves) are actually helping Donald Trump. There's these moments where Cruz or Rubio has Donald on the ropes and the moderator swoops in as Donald's savior and is like, "Guys we have to move on." No you don't, you fuckwits, let them humiliate Trump first!!!

And none of the moderators are grilling Donald for refusing to answer their questions!

Mind you, I don't like Cruz or Rubio. As politicians and as human beings they seem fairly despicable in their own ways! But they are not idiotic, despotic bullies like Donald Trump. And I really, really, REALLY want someone to knock Donald Trump off his high horse.

Trump is a consummate liar, and vile human being in many ways, but it's actually not hard to see his appeal among the republican base. Once you accept that these are people that are okay with the rampant racism and hatred he spews--everything makes sense.

He's against the TPP (although not for the right reasons) claims to be against Super PAC corruption, supports (to some degree) universal healthcare, supports planned parenthood, and supports a rather anti-1% tax plan.

There's also, clearly, a lot of awful things that we all know (BUILD A WALL, etc.), and he is completely untrustworthy as far as backing any of this up (he flopped on the healthcare thing basically immediately), but, the point is that it's not hard to see why he has the support he does among the republican base or why he runs very tight against Clinton in polls and gets destroyed by Bernie (who wants to do many of the same things but without being a terrible person as well--i.e. there probably is a cross section of people who will vote for Bernie if they can and Trump if they can't just to get someone who at least claims to be anti-establishment/anti-super PAC in).

I'm not sure if I get your point; it's like saying Godwin's Law exists, therefore nothing can be compared to Hitler and Nazi Germany in WWII. EDIT: I personally have a huge respect for my conservative friends (with repugnant political beliefs, sure, but still) who have articulated that they will refuse to vote for Trump just to keep Hillary out of the White House, because Trump is a bigoted, despotic asshole who deserves to rot in every circle of hell simultaneously.

I can't condone their non-participation in the political process and get HELLA MAD at folks who won't support Hillary because she is, factually, a continuation of neoconservative foreign policy and Wall Street friendly corporatism.

Personally, I'll be voting for Hillary in the probable Hillary v. Trump showdown -- I'd vastly prefer Bernie, but it is what it is -- but I'm not going to condescend to those who won't, because it sure as hell won't change their votes to hear me screaming about their culpability in the impending Trumpageddon.
