Let's see... sketchy story that you have to work through, or good story that's easy to do... go with the book, since it won't induce carpal tunnel syndrome.

Well, Metroid is a classic, but prime, as has been stated, has a wonky control system and is for the less than stellar gamecube system (can any game on that system have good controls? I mean, that controller had to have been designed by satan himself, it's even worse than the X-box controller, the big one!) and although it does contain the regular level of quality expected from it's franchise, it is also an extraordinarily frustrating game.
The Vampire Lestat is a remarkably well written book, although I do get the feeling that every vampire she (Anne Rice) has ever created is whiny and self absorbed, they are also incredibly detailed books, with excellent description and remarkable philosophical ideas, as well as a number of great quotes. I'd suggest the book, although if you haven't read Interview with the vampire (or is it interview with a vampire? I can never remember), it is rather pointless to read this one first, as it's a sequal. If you have, by all means read the book.

Meh, if "The Vampire Lestat" is anything like, "Interview With a Vampire", then I would say game. I wasn't too impressed with it. If you want a vampire book, read "Dracula".
Dracula > Angsty Vampires As for the game, I have never played it, so I cannot comment.
