We're adding gates once the other wall builders get on and get a look at where things stand now. Might put one facing the dragon temple and another facing the snow field near Doc's castle. I dunno.

Just my luck. I play for an hour or so and seem to find an utterly HUGE cave system connected to the wee hole I found in the surface. Go ahead and explore BH5432's Place. tho its quite easy to get lost

I'll probably figure out most of this place before I go play hobo in a nearby cave thus establishing a forward safe house.

I'll probably mark it with a cobblestone tower until I can use glass to build a windowed entrance.

EDIT: Established two safehouses northward. Marked with torches and cobblestone towers. The closer one has emergency resources in the chest, but I was too busy to stock the second one. Just in case you get caught outside during evening. Also there is a flood risk with safehouse 2 so if anybody knows how to creeper-proof the nearby lake shore I'd like to know too.

EDIT2: I seem to be locked on peaceful difficulty when in the server (health regenerates and haven't seen a single enemy mob yet). Is this a glitch or some setting to the server itself?

Makes today perfect to create safe houses. Also I can't garuntee creeper-proofing on the current two safe houses, but if somebody wants to double-layer the walls and roof they're free to do so.

Only real way to creeper-proof something is either covering it in A: lava, B: water, or C: Obsidian. All of them are explosion-proof.

there is no need to double layer anymore. Creepers can no longer see though walls. So no more of that Random ass explosion BS.
however spiders can now climb walls AND SEE THOUGH THEM. Meaning that creepers have become slightly less destructive while spiders have become alot worse.

PREPARE YOURSELVES LITTLE CREATURES: FOR TOMORROW ALL MANNER OF BEASTS SWARM FORTH FROM THE DARK TO DESTROY US ALL!

So here are a few tips for new players, since we seem to have a lot of those.

1. MONSTERS DO NOT SPAWN WHERE THERE IS LIGHT! Keeping your mine well lit is the key to survival. If there are any dark unexplored areas, the monsters may come creeping forth from them to do you harm. Light them or seal them off, lest they be your undoing.

2. MONSTERS CANNOT MOVE THROUGH DOORS! Wooden or steel doors can keep monsters at bay, but be warned that any door foolishly left open will do you no good. For this reason, it is advised that one tries to use mostly Iron doors with a pressure plate so that the door closes automatically behind each user, lest some unwary fool leave open the portal to the scary place.

3. RUN FOR YOUR FUCKING LIVES! ITS A CREEPER! No seriously, these guys will fuck your shit up. They'll fuck the whole town's shit up. Although EXPERT MONSTER HUNTERS have special strategies to killing them with a sword, they can only really be safely engaged with a bow, from afar. Causing creepers to explode near public property is frowned upon.

4. SPIDERS CAN CLIMB ON SHIT NOW: A vertical wall is not enough to keep the horrible eight-legged menace at bay. They're also really fast when traveling along the ground. To keep them from climbing into your base, remember these helpful tips. Spiders have a low, wide profile, making it impossible for them to fit in a 1-wide hole that other monster normally can go into. By using such narrow passages to escape from them, one can easily lose them and get away. Furthermore, lips put around the tops of important doorways stop the spiders from climbing over, as they cannot climb on horizontal ceilings, merely walls.

5. ITS DANGEROUS TO GO ALONE! TAKE THIS! A sandstone structure with some burning nether-stone and a chest has been placed near the village center. The chest contains ample weapons and leather armor. Although iron or diamond material is a better long-term solution, these items should help keep you safe until you can get something better set up. Special thanks to whoever put that there.

Other Notes.
Inside My Castle Is a Mob Killer machine. It Goes underneath the Green Dragon inn and almost to the farm's cave.
I don;t recommend digging down in that location because I purposely created the Ideal conditions for monster spawning 24/7
there will be a ton of materials down there If anyone so wishes to use the machine.
