As an additional note: With the implementation of Creeper mobs comes the gunpowder they drop, leading to TNT. Please use this responsibly. Anyone I find carelessly damaging public property with stupid uses of TNT will be followed and murdered in the name of the public good. If you want to go into your mine and blow the shit out of yourself, that's fine, just don't be putting TNT near other people's things or in town.
Some tips on using TNT without killing yourself: An activated red-stone trail leading to TNT will cause it to detonate. A common kind of trap within one's own mine is to place a pressure plate leading to TNT that will kill those who who do not belong there. Be careful, as oftentimes the creators of these traps are killed by them, rather than the intended intruders. If you're lacking in redstone, there is another way. Im pretty sure fire being right next to redstone will set it off, and wool burns quickly. Set a block of TNT, then set a trail of wool leading to a safe distance, then light the wool using a lighter. We cannot emphasize how important it is that you be careful with lighters and with TNT. Both have been the cause of extreme damage to public areas in the past, and there is a dangerously large potential for that now that all of our public theaters, inns, and other buildings are all made of wood and surrounded by trees. A forest fire started in this game is really, really hard to put out. Don't do it. EDIT: A final note on using fire is that a burning block does not have to be in direct contact with another block to spread the flames. A single burning piece of wood or leaves can pass the flame a small leap away to a tree or building it is not even touching. For this reason it is asked that one does not play with fire while on the surface. If you have uses for it underground, thats probably safe, but please don't burn everything down. We had a bit of a problem with this on the last map. Last edited by Pip Boy; 01-23-2011 at 01:50 PM. |

I got some obsidian (60 blocks left out of 64), but not enough for the walls. The problem is not finding it but, mining the damn thing. Over 15 minutes of poking it with a diamond pickaxe for just 64 blocks of it...well, it's hard >_>. I found a nice cave for getting obsidian, just meed to bring a bucket for water and voilą, instant obsidian

I have to say, I rather enjoy this map in the sense that overworld map has been nicely suited to our needs as far as town building, and the underground has proven to provide a lot of nicely connected tunnel systems. We've had three or four different users now find massive underground tunnel systems that seem to just go all over the place. Particularly BH's.

Well the Surface actually was treeless and bare for a while It wasnt till we started a orchard that definately went overboard that we got the shear amount of trees that is needed..

I won't do that shit again because when I actually burnt the 8 trees around my safehouse I meant to burn one as a test. And I got caught in a scary lag loop so I won't burn things on the surface. Keep in mind: If you don't like a tree it is in everyone's best interest NOT TO BURN IT, I'm gonna just cut the trunks out of ones I don't like for now on. Don't log on right now. Looks like a surface lava pool started a fire and now the lag is bumping people off the server. Ness can hopefully get it fixed somehow but right now it's even keeping the terrain from loading.
EDIT: Ness, if you can could you please preserve the map since I'm almost halfway done turning a rare formation into my official base? Last edited by Aldurin; 01-23-2011 at 07:48 PM. |
