Dream-cal is alive and a result of Dave's nightmares. He gets tossed out the tower, caught by Bro's rocketboard, brought to the lab, and sent back in time on a meteor with Bro. Presumably he dies there, like Maplehoof.

Bro then proceeds to use Cal for shenanigans, and Dave has nightmares of Cal as a result. Repeat.
