Is it okay if I laugh for a bit at Bells "All Asian People Look The Same To Me" McGee accusing us of xenophobia?

Also we should probably not drag too many drunkstream shenanigans in here anymore. This is at least supposed to be a serious thread.

Like you don't see too many people going "You can't criticize female genital mutilation in Africa, that's xenophobic of you to criticize their unique special sunflower cultures!" But like logically, if you make the xenophobic argument in one context, doesn't it automatically apply in all others? If you say, 'this foreign culture is beyond reproach; to attack their unique interpretations would be xenophobic of you,' doesn't that automatically shield every foreign culture from any criticism? EDIT: The xenophobia argument is even worse in some respects in regards to Atlus, because Atlus actually is trying to sell their products to America and other western cultures; thus, even under an extremely ludicrous notion that foreign cultures are immunized and sheltered from criticism merely by being foreign, Atlus would subsequently open themselves to criticism from American and European audiences the moment they attempted to sell said products in those countries.

Yes, Snake. That's why it was terrible and he should feel ashamed to have pulled that bullshit.

Because if a culture impignes on basic human rights it is not acceptable, that's not xenophobia.

Good luck, Liz. I'm sure that blog's going to get a lot more shit tossed at it in the ensuing weeks.

I am aiming this to be more on the advise side for Liz.
I had this REALLY long thing going on here, but I think I am going to cut it out and just be kind of blunt.
I don't disagree with you. Even if no one else in the room sees the misogyny that you do, the point is that you do see it, and you have a right to speak your mind if something makes you angry or uncomfortable without someone acting like a 1st grader and calling you names. Hmm... basically what I am trying to say that is I think you are kinda dumb* going about this the way you have. At least that's how I have come to feel about the whole situation. It could have started off on a better foot. Not for any particular flaw in your logic, just that ATLUS really isn't a good target and you have been way to combative about all of this. You might have made better headway with a totally western company, but the icing on this cake is that you keep stooping down to that grade school level while shout fuck as loud as you can and yelling "NU-UH YOU." I get that this really is a hot button for you, but calling someone a fuck-face is not going to convince them you aren't just one of the stereotypes you rail against. You got a lot of heartache coming on this road from this internet hate alone, don't get into the mudslinging you have been in this thread if you want to continue this. I don't think anyone's heart could take all that. *Kinda hypocritical of me calling Liz a name like a first grader, but I am going for a different context here dammit!

Liz presents a very professional and level-headed argument across her blog for each aspect of the issue she tackles.
I think being very upset that you have to defend this to people you thought would be more open-minded, some using very bad and derailing logic and throwing your past back in your face, is understandable. You would expect them to be more reasonable and willing to engage you in intelligent discourse over the issue instead of ignoring your points and attacking your character, then crying because you pushed back.

Can we move forward instead of continuing to make posts about "You shouldn't use this word" or "Don't be mad." ?
