Khael - You crazay! XD
TDK - You ARE getting better. References are awesome things. Tophat - Very awesome. I love seeing mechanical stuff. It looks just so neat. I really like how you did hte lineart here. The first concept sketch of a project for art class: do a movie-stand up thing, turning yourself into a movie character. There will be three versions. One will be on grey paper. There will be skin where there is nothing covering it (like the face and hands) and muscle where there should be clothes. The second will be on white paper, with just whiteness where the skin is exposed, but the costume drawn in detail. The third will be the skeleton underneith it all on black. Oh, and to give a reference in size, each of those little grid boxes is 2"x2" (it's 24"x32.5") (although I need to change some of it, because part of the gun got cut off. I wanted to show my last art project, but it got hung in the hallway. Woo!

CJ - It's looking good... I'm having a little trouble making it out, but I especially like the effect of the robe/cloak. I'm curious what the costume would look like in full detail. The gun, at least as far as I can tell, looks a bit strange right now (or maybe I'm trying to picture the wrong kind), but it's not bad. Those things are hard to draw.
Tophat - Actually, I think you've come pretty close; at any rate, it's awesome in its own right. The lineart is indeed pretty impressive. Khael - I... don't know what to say there. XD TDK - I checked the album cover for reference, and yeah, that's about the burliest angel I've ever seen. :O_o: You've done a nice job with it, though. So my Thesis Project of DOOM has been eating my life for the past year or so. I don't think I've drawn anything since the last time I posted here, which was... January? February? Anyway, it was a while ago. I'm going to try to do more, especially when things finally calm down. I haven't use computers much for art--tablets aren't an option, and even when it's just tracing, mice and I have never gotten along. I'm not totally happy with how it went here, but it came out all right. |

You don't have to say anything Katiuska, I don't understand what possesses me to draw stupid things either. Except that it's fun and I totally don't have to worry about details as much. I guess I do know?
What did you use for the outlines, Kat? It looks kind of like a chiseltip, or something raised a bit. Like the metal parts in stained glass? At any rate it's a neat effect and you did a good job on the hair. I need to draw on real paper more often like I used to. And then I need to actually scan that stuff.

Edit: Okay! This took me five fucking hours, and is my first attempt at animating anything but sprites or stick figures. Its primarily digital. Like the body and a couple of the hands were originally on paper but got changed a bunch and the arms were all digital, as well as most of it past the first frame. 'Course the art isn't great but that's not really the point. Most of its mouse-drawn. But here you go: I'm gonna color it. |

Ara ara!

Hello people.
I've been practicing my sketching in a little spare notebook I had lying around, and I think I'm at the point where I might have something worth showing other people. I was practicing heads and I came on a design that I thought would work as Arhra for Avvy and things, so I tried a full body sketch. It's a little messy I'm afraid. I haven't really cleaned it up much. I'm... I'm not sure if that hair is physically possible. I like the weird outline it gives though.

I've seen hair that's more or less like that, so I think it is. The figure is really nice... I'd probably straighten her right leg to make her stance studier, but if you were going for a certain posture, there's nothing wrong with it.
TDK: Looks like it paid off. Quote:

Otherwise not bad. I agree with Kat, you might want to straighten out that leg unless that's the look you're going for. But on the whole it's very good. And TDK: yay for gifs! Nicely done, man. Celes: your stand thing looks cool. Is it going to be on cardboard? Because when you say it's like what they use with movies I think of those giant cardboard cut-outs. Which would be cool in itself. :P

You know come to think of it I got distracted a LOT in those five hours so it probably didn't take nearly that long. Someone was talking at me and distracting me.
Still, I'm proud of the result and it took a long time! Thanks for the comments and junk. @Arhra: Goddammit why is everyone better than me...:P Nice drawing. The hair is very possible, yes, and as said the stance makes her seem a little nervous, but that might be your intention I guess. The anatomy is good though. |

Katiuska - Nice picture, although what did you use for it? I would maybe try for a sharper lineart (or varied line sizes. But it looks nice. ^^ TDK - That animation is actually really good. It looks nice. Arhra - Nice, and yeah, I'm pretty sure that hair is fine. I'm concerned with the elbows. They seem... unnaturally thin. Very nice though, I like the clothes.
