Actually, I've looked back over it, and I think the man was trying to make a valid point, only he went about it in a way that ticked off a lot of fans, and mace him look like an asshole.
Personally, recently, I bought Mass Effect, Bioshock, Halo, Halo 2, and The Orange Box, from Gamestop. All of them rated M. They only let "me" (technically, my Mom, I guess) buy them once the clerk had okayed it with her, and explained what the games were rated M for. Anyway, I'm just pointing out that not all store clerks are slavering madmen rushing to get pornographic videogames into the hands of our precious children. ...Anyway. So, I think he has a valid point on one hand, even if the Mass Effect thing was stupid. A 12 year old kid shouldn't be allowed to buy Mass Effect. That part is totally true, and I am in complete agreement with him on that point. On the other hand, the "SECKS IN MASS EFFECT OMG" thing is dumb. For one thing, Mass Effect is rated M, the videogame equivalent of R. You don't see many people up in flames about sex scenes in R-rated movies, do you? Another thing is that unlike M-rated games, where anytime I buy them I have to get my Mom or Dad to come with me, R-rated movies are easy to buy. I've bought several myself. Anyway, that was long and rambling, but I hope I got my point across. |

How about this: instead of banning rated M things from various outlets, why not educate parents and encourage them to make their own decisions regarding the games their children can or cannot play? It's all well and good that some retailers are ethical enough to explain the reasons behind a game's M rating, but parents are the ones who need to decide what is appropriate for their own children to see and play. Agreed and I would like to add,That if your parents aren't involved enough in your life to police your entertainment when you're at an age where a sex scene is going to confuse/warp/harm you in some way then you have much larger problems then a 30 second cut scene. and also (American here) America gets to up in arms about nudity and sex anyway.Janet Jackson shows a nipple at the super bowl,And now "live" shows are delayed 2 minutes to allow censers to go over them in real time. But that same week the finally to C.S.I. showed a man getting decapitated by a train and not a word.
