Obviously, what they want the player to do is come up with their own dialogue. Get a couple friends over to do the voices, and watch the magic happen.

My point was that the angry grunts were the most obnoxious angry grunts I've ever heard.
I'm not opposed to what you said in THEORY, with the story reason for a silent protagonist, etc. I'm not even against having a protagonist who is silent for no good reason. I'm just opposed to a protagonist who makes those, particular, noises. Though you'd have to mute it to get a good voice over going, anyway, so the end result is, mostly, the same. Just with added hilarity.

I'm gonna be honest, this was way better the first time I watched it, with the sound off.
Basically I think the major takeaway here is that you should always, always, always dig up the scratch to get some decently competent voice actors for your videogame. Even if the VAs are literally doing nothing but grunting. In fact, especially then!
