Shin was very happy about the news about the class and the upcoming challenge Jo had given her.
"Well thanks. I'll see you tomorrow, I guess? I should train a little back in my room to prepare." She gestured towards the dorm rooms and prepared to leave-still not wanting to offend the icy figure. "I think I'll have to do the same." Jo confessed. "I'm still looking for some appropriate clubs. I know one you might like. Did you know there's a Weights Club? Supposedly, to stay in after the first year, you have to lift an ox." she chuckled at the thought. To be honest, Jo felt that Shin could do that right now if she really wanted to. But still, the ogre might appreciate the tip off. "I thought I'd have a look tomorrow, but all things considered, perhaps the day after would be better. Would you like to come with me?" * * * Jack confessed his introduction in the classroom had been a big mistake. "So, um... we're probably going to need a third." He said, still focusing resolutely on a point slightly to the left of her head rather than look her in the eye. Jo laughed, "With the terms of the duel you've been given, there's one choice who stands above the rest." she said, clapsing her hands modestly. "I'm still getting to know the rest of the class, so forgive me if this seems biased." "You need someone who can bolster the areas you and Jay are weak in, while still contributing to where you're strong." the jotun said, starting to circle him with introspective steps. "Someone to balance you out. You need someone who can get Hannah off balance. Someone clever." A smile tugged at her lips, she was teasing him. "You need a wildcard, something that can't be seen coming." She stopped and stepped in close to him, something smouldering in her dark eyes. "Something unexpected." "And so." the pale girl got even closer. "I suggest." She leaned in, chill radiating from her body, and breathed in his ear conspiratorially. "... "

"Um. What just happened?" Diana spoke. Sean turned to the girl, still snickering at Kohana's misfortune. He supposed that was a blatant display of magic he could tolerate, but it was still awfully open to the general viewing public. And it also appeared this girl was just a regular human. He'd have to use tact.
"I'm really not sure," he answered, which was somewhat truthful. He turned around to speak with Adeline, but it appeared that the class president nominee had disappeared. "Guess she's gone. I was going to ask if she knew that guy at all." Sean now looked at the sword on the ground. Who did that? Was it Adeline? Ninjas? Ninja Squirrels? "We should probably talk away from the sword. There's a smidgen of blood and I don't want to have to answer any questions about this." He scanned around for somewhere else to speak, or if any teachers were watching, when he noticed the camera set up. "Oh cool! That you're camera? What are you using it for?" He honestly should have backed down. |

Jo laughed, "With the terms of the duel you've been given, there's one choice who stands above the rest. I'm still getting to know the rest of the class, so forgive me if this seems biased."
She started to circle Jack, which seemed rather weird to him. "You need someone who can bolster the areas you and Jay are weak in, while still contributing to where you're strong. Someone to balance you out. You need someone who can get Hannah off balance. Someone clever." She smiled teasingly. "You need a wildcard, something that can't be seen coming." "Something unexpected." "And so." "I suggest." As she talked, she leaned in closer and closer, the air growing colder as she drew nearer. This girl was creeping him out. And when she reached his ear to say something, Jack was just about ready to back the hell away. Only, shae said... "...Professor Landry." He couldn't help it. Jack burst out laughing right there, doubling over and clutching his stomach. He was laughing so loudly he was probably attracting a lot of attention, but he didn't notice. Slowly, after a long time, he managed to get himself under control. Standing up straight, he clapped his hand over his mouth was now only giggling into his hand. "That is... hehe," he said, pulling his hand away from his mouth, "that is perfect. Jo, you're a genius. And there's nothing in the rules that says we can't!" If they could get away with it... Hannah was scared of Landry, Jack thought, from her alarmed reaction to a lightbulb exploding when Jay issued his challenge to her. Granted, Jack wasn't sure how common a lightbulb exploding happened in this school, but he didn't think it happened very often. Professor Landry was probably the only one who did that. If he was right, they'd have an extra edge against Hannah that might balance out the fact that they'd be outnumbered. The only problem was getting Landry to agree. "That is the greatest idea ever." He told Jo. "I hope you don't mind, but I think I'm going to head out and get some training before I call it a night." Hmmm... maybe he should extend a friendly invitation? "Unless you wanna come with?" Suddenly, Jackson realized she might think he was propositioning her.

"Isn't it great? It's the latest model. I was doing an interview with a classmate..." It was then Diana realised the terrible news. "Oh no, she escaped! But- but I wasn't done!" Well now. What would she do? There was still hours until she was due to meet up with Bill, and she really wanted enough interview footage for a full segment by then. But with no Sue/Adeline... Di considered her options, probably making Sean feel rather uncomfortable with the way she was staring intently at his left shoulder. Something was nagging at her. Some solution to her latest problem. If only she could grasp it. Hmmmmmmm... Vice like fingers were suddenly clamped around Sean's shoulders, a smiling yer somehow scarily intense Di staring him in the eye. "Hiiiiii Sean! Normal guy! You're perfect! You will be my second interviewee! Fame and glory awaits you! How lucky you are! Lucky lucky lucky! Sit!!!" The whirlwind director had struck again. Minor fussing ensued as Di inspected Sean's presentation and posture. And then the interview began. "I've found another one, fans! He seems a bit shy, so go easy on him, alrighty?" She gave her camera a thumbs up, her other hand still latched onto Sean's shoulder, though she'd at least relaxed her grip enough so that it wasn't uncomfortable. "I know my last classmate had to run off early, but I'm keeping a close eye on this one! And Sean wouldn't disappear on me, would he?" She smiled at the boy cheerfully, as if the idea that anyone would leave one of her interviews early was laughable, and that perpetrators would be shot. Clearly it didn't even need thinking about. "So! Let's get started! Sean, what is your name? Where are you from? how do you like it here? What was it like there? Will you be ending up in Jay's harem? Dal's? Will you have your own? My my." A pause happened to let the answers sink in. "And now, the important stuff! What do you think of our class? Are you happy to have been voted 'most normal person in Professor Landry's class on the first day'? That's aside from me, of course. Is normal good? Bad? Why's that? Ohhh. Now, make yourself sound good to the fans back home in 23 and a half words exactly! I will be counting, don't worry! And finally, for this round: If somehow you found a doomsday device someone had snuck into your room tonight with 8 minuets left on the timer, what would you do?" In the background of the shot, the forgotten sword glinted.

In this post, Sean's voice is colored plum.
"Isn't it great? It's the latest model. I was doing an interview with a classmate..." It was then Diana realised the terrible news. "Oh no, she escaped! But- but I wasn't done!"
"Interviews? For what exactly?" Okay now she was staring at his. Particularly his shoulder. Sean shifted his eyes a bit in the awkwardness. He turned his head left and right, as if he was attempting to avoid eye contact. He felt something strange was going on and that he wasn't in on it. Sean, being the jumpy fellow that he is, was a taken quite aback when he hands suddenly gripped his shoulder. He pulled back slightly, but little was accomplished as her grip was like iron. "Hiiiiii Sean! Normal guy! You're perfect! You will be my second interviewee! Fame and glory awaits you! How lucky you are! Lucky lucky lucky! Sit!!!" "Um thanks? -wahh!" Things were a bit of a hazy whirl for a moment. One second he was standing, the next moment he was sitting. Did she do something to his hair? He scanned the immediate area for something that may have been reflective. Nothing though, and really no time to do so. "Umm sure I won't," the tall lad answered a bit disorientated. He yed the camera curiously for a moment. "So who are these fans sup-" "So! Let's get started! Sean, what is your name? Where are you from? how do you like it here? What was it like there? Will you be ending up in Jay's harem? Dal's? Will you have your own? My my." "Well you sort of answered the first question on your own," he said scratching his head, "my name is Sean Castevet. I was born in Japan, but I grew up in Ontario with my dad and Step-mom. I'm not sure of how I like it here so far. There's... a lot of surprises. I'm not sure if I like that-" it is important to remember that Sean has a heart condition -"but I guess its not anything too awful. Back home was a fairly average place. I grew up in one small town, had a large family that lived there, had some acquaintances and friends all around. Certainly no ninja swords falling from the sky." He paused for a moment to point towards the now unforgotten sword lying in the backdrop with the thumb of his free arm. He then went on to the next question. "Well I think that- wait what! - no I'm not in Jay or Dal's harem! I'm sure they will be very happy together without me. No I'm not really looking for a relationship at this moment." There was a brief moment of silence. Sean waited curiously as she prepared her next questions. "And now, the important stuff! What do you think of our class?" "The class is certainly different, I'm going withdraw from any other opinions," Sean said with a blank face and monotonous tone. "Is normal good? Bad? Why's that?" "I guess that's ...neat. Where was this 'vote' held? Anyways, I do carry an appreciation for stability you could say." "Ohhh. Now, make yourself sound good to the fans back home in 23 and a half words exactly! I will be counting, don't worry!" "I'm guessing you drink a lot of coffee," Sean said in a rather nervous tone. He was being overwhelmed here! Wait? Did that count? He figured it would count. He briefly took the time to tick some a few numbers off of his hands. "I just want to make it through the year without a heart attack. Or ninja att-" Sean ended it there as the girl specifically stated 23 and 1/2 words. "And finally, for this round: If somehow you found a doomsday device someone had snuck into your room tonight with 8 minuets left on the timer, what would you do?" "This is all hypothetical right?" Sean responded with a concerned grin and chuckle. "Thats an odd question, and I doubt it will ever happen, thankfully. If it did occur I guess I would run. And not stop running. I might call some authorities on the way, but yeah, run and preserve my precious little life." That seemed to be the last question. Sean turned his head towards Diana, who was still clenching his shoulder with a tightly grasped claw. "So is it over?" he asked, wanting his personal space back. |

"This is all hypothetical right?" Sean responded with a concerned grin and chuckle.
"..Sure!" Di grinned. Her eyes weren't shifty, nope. "Thats an odd question, and I doubt it will ever happen, thankfully.." "Of course not!" She was not planning any summer specials. "If it did occur I guess I would run. And not stop running. I might call some authorities on the way, but yeah, run and preserve my precious little life." "Innnteresting..." No plans at all. That seemed to be the last question. Sean turned his head towards Diana, who was still clenching his shoulder with a tightly grasped claw. "So is it over?" he asked, wanting his personal space back. "Almost! See guys? I told you he was shy. But he's cool. All calm and collected! I bet he looks up to Mr. Spock and Kyon! But, but, Sean, before I let you go, I must ask! Do you have any talents? Can you show the fans at home? Plleeeeassse? Pretty please? With a cherry and sprinles? And a few chocolate chips, becuase I'm hungry." Unknowingly, Di's pleading look was multiplied by a factor of X, the camera doing it's work. Who could resist such a heart felt request, she though to herself. Only a cold hearted man of evil! That's who! Was Sean such a man?

It... was almost over right? This was it and it would end? Sean figured he could oblige this request.
"I don't think it would be particularly safe to offer you much sugar," Sean said, his smile being a bit more forced now. "I'm not that interesting a guy, but I guess I'm good at some things." Sean ran through his mind for options. Making ice, fixing cuts, and running incredibly fast weren't particularly smart options to perform on camera. "Well... I play hockey. I was on the varsity team at my old school. I can't quite show that off here though can I? I like swimming to, but the same applies to it as it does the last answer. Hmm this is tough isn't it?" He couldn't just leave them hanging could he? It seemed like he might have to. "Well I really hate to just leave you hanging, but nothing occurs to me at the moment. It's not like we'll be far from eachother for a long time though right? How about I promise now that I'll get something to show you on the camera at a later date? Would that be alright?" He sorta kinda really wanted to get out, but he wasn't going to just say that. He could certainly strike a deal, right? |

Jack was getting more and more creeped out as Jo spoke about the third member of the team until she named Professor Landry.
The tension broke. Jack burst out laughing right there. It went on and on, the wizard staying doubled over until he finally got it under control. Jo just watched him. "That is the greatest idea ever." Jack told Jo. "I hope you don't mind, but I think I'm going to head out and get some training before I call it a night." He thought for a second. "Unless you wanna come with?" He stiffened for a moment, as if afraid he'd said something wrong. "You?" Jo said thoughtfully. "Sure. Just let me grab something to eat first."

Jay had been about to leave the scene when Dean had dropped by being as disruptive as was his nature, and he decided to humor him. Because while he still had that thick accent that drove his mind up the damn walls at least he was trying to be courteous. Jay couldn't be rude when someone wasn't being rude back yet,
"I try. I'm supposed to have some sort of duel tomorrow to run tandem with our teacher's. Should be a fun. I've decided that I have no idea who I am taking with me because countless advisement is coming from multiple sides. So I'm going to save my choices until I have a waiting crowd and a deeper understanding of the shit storm I am entering." He looked out the doorway and sighed heavily as he stared over to the rude wizard with a strangely kind grin, "Might even be you mushmouth. Gotta get going though. Hold the fort." He stepped out for some batting practice, a few swings for the sake of accuracy and coordination. It was going to be a big day tomorrow. He hoped to still be on his toes when it came.

Astarte had just finished taking a shower and was contemplating dinner when she happened into Linda.
"Any displacements?" Astarte asked her zombie friend, then felt stupid for not greeting Linda first. But then again, maybe that was turning into her greeting for Linda. "I'm holding together," Linda smiled, flexing her arms. "But after all the physical activity I've been doing, I'm starving. You wouldn't happen to uhh...know someone who wouldn't be missed, would you?" Astarte smirked. "If I cook you dinner, would you continue to not eat people?" "There's nothing in the fridge, though." "Then come with me to the store." "But I'm hungry right now." Astarte threw her arms up in the air. "Fine. We'll go hit a restaurant and then go shopping for food." "You want to go buy more food after we eat?" "I don't like eating out all the time." Astarte did away with her mummy wrappings so that she and Linda could leave the academy without stirring up suspicions. With plastic trays displaying delicious cheeseburgers, french fries, and soft drinks, Astarte revealed a sneaking suspicion to Linda. "I kind of get the feeling that the fighting between Professor Landry and Professor Shuyin will break out amongst the students of both classes." Linda nodded. "I don't know your homeroom professor all that much." Astarte leaned back, balancing a french fry on her lips. "If she gets us all involved with her own personal conflict, I'll never forgive her. I made some good friends in such a short amount of time and I'm in no mood to fight Vanilla or Gorgeous." "What'cha gonna do, fight your own professor?" "That'd be entirely pointless. Not only would I lose horribly, I'd just end up feeling worse and looking like a traitor to the other students in my class. It's a vexing problem and I see no way out of it." Astarte and Linda were shopping by the time the sun had set. "Linda, do you eat a lot?" Linda hungrily licked her lips staring at all the fresh meat. Astarte wordlessly put another two packages in her shopping cart. It was pretty late by the time they returned and put the food in the fridge. "Kinda weird how we live here but don't sleep here," Linda observed. "We just have weird preferences," Astarte shrugged. "You like to bury yourself six feet under and I like to enclose myself in a sarcophagus. I think it's these things about us which made us best friends." It was later still when Astarte returned to her sarcophagus after helping Linda find a good plot of land to rest in peace until the morning. Astarte was exhausted and, only clad in her wrappings, Astarte closed her sarcophagus and went to sleep before her mother could bother her. |
