I'm actually probably going to go with a Monk/Psychic Warrior Tashalatora build, so go Team Psychic.

My main problem is that I know nothing about what the starting level is, what we're doing for stats, or really anything else you need to know to build a character.

What I did was go to an online generator, got myself some stats (4d6, discard the lowest), arrange and enjoyed.

In fact... here's two versions of the same one (first one's full, second one's "lite").

Here's an alt site, if you like, I don't know it too well.

Okay, we're doing 4d6b3? I mean, I can build a character, I have all of the stuff I need to do that, I just don't know what Smarty is aiming for.

Level, HP, starting GP, all of that snazzy stuff you need to make a character.

Well, I'm presuming. I just set up mine to go starting at first level, but with the ability to take her higher, if Smarty wants. Basically, I'm presuming standard, and adjusting thereafter. Also a really, really cool place Grimpond accidentally introduced me to is here. I signed up, mentioned Grimpond as my reference, and started putting character sheets online. I don't actually know if you can see my character sheet there or not, as I've never tried one of these links from another computer, but Grimpond put one up somehow, so that's what I've tried to do. Still, it's really cool.

Yeah, myth-weavers is a great sheet hosting site. IIRC you have to set the sheets to "public" to allow others to view them.

Hm. I've clicked the "Public" check-mark in the box, but disappears when I do anything. What-up-wit-dat (in other words, how do I make it permanent/actually apply)?

Also, check your PM!

The checkbox isn't for it being public, that's for moving it to a different folder, I think. You gotta click on the eye to make it public. (It is public if the eye is gray. If its private, the eye will be transparent.)

Got it, thanks.

Now, Bookworm, I didn't ask before 'cause I was in a hurry and forgot, but what's a "Tashalatora"? It's something in DnD that I actually don't know about! Is that anything like a Fist of Zuoken? Also: go team psychic!

As to TDK's question about my spell-energy-healing-thing...

... it's called Spell-Fire. In the FR (Forgotten Realms) it's a rare and special talent, like a beneficial mutancy (kinda like being psionic or a sorcerer, actually, save even more rare) that allows you to absorb spell-energy that's sent your way and channel that energy into various useful effects, primarily healing and blasting stuff. Any time I absorb a spell (a standard action to ready under most circumstances) I can absorb up to a number of 'spell levels' of energy equal to the spell cast (so a sixth level spell grants me six spell levels); I can hold a maximum number of spell levels total equal to my constitution score. At any time I can use those stored spell levels to certain effects. The first is a melee or 400 foot range touch attack that deals 1d6 points of damage per spell level I expend* (a fairly bad self-trade for a caster, as I'd do 6d6 damage with the afore-mentioned sixth-level spell, where as fireball <3rd level spell> would deal 10d6 <maximum> because I'd be an 11th level caster by the point I could use a sixth level spell; the lesson: don't cannibalize! ... if you can help it.) half fire and half raw magic, with a static reflex DC of 20* (That's terrible! Static DCs are t3h suck!) for half. I could choose this as a weapon for purposes of weapon-based feats (weapon focus, weapon finesse, improved critical, etc)* (I won't unless we get into epic levels). The other option is that I can use it to heal people: 2 hit points per spell level* (note: this is also a bad deal for a healing caster, but we don't have one of those, so I'm doing this instead) * (unless I take levels in the spell-fire wielder prestige class, in which case it's 1d4+1* {still a bad deal}, which I'm not planning on, unless we get to epic levels or Smarty thinks it's a better idea), which is what I'm mostly going to be using it for. I've also petitioned Smarty for an template for my character to which I've added some suggestions dealing with the possibility of tying my spell-fire abilities to it's special abilities for interesting effect* (actually greatly weakening the template over all, but making it a neat tie-in for its abilities and my spellfire stuff).

So does that answer all of your questions about how this thing works?

Also, just to keep up with everything...
RUNNING TALLY OF PEOPLE INTERESTED SO FAR:
*Sifright (obviously): engineer who brings SCIENCE to the world (probably rogue, possibly altered artificer, or factotum)
*TDK: Spellthief (sneaky magical buddy!)
*Magic Marker: sorcerer (con-man!)
*DarkDrgon: bard ('cause they're awesome)
*Overcast: wilder, metamind prestige (tk to the FACE)
*Me: Red Light psion (telepath), thrallherd prestige (who wields spellfire to provide healing for group while still using our current resources)
*Mr. Bookworm: joined team psionic with a monk/psychic warrior/"Tashalatora"
*BitVyper: who knows or cares? He should be a time lord to make sure it works, regardless!* (I can actually make that build for you, but Smarty wouldn't like me any more* (it's an epic build))
*Solid Snake: sucks to be him, he can't (yet)(sorry, Snake, wish you were here; hey make a character anyway and perhaps you could pop in every once and a while!)

EDIT: here's my character sheet, if it works

Gosh, since I haven't had the chance to get my D&D on this week I am so tempted, you really have no idea.

I'll put it to you this way, if Smarty was like "Your character can be introduced about a month after things start, and then you can join the party as a late recruit," I'd be down, particularly since I have virtually nothing going on during evenings this summer.

It's a feat from the Eberron book Secrets of Sarlona. Lets you treat one psionic classes levels as Monk levels for the purposes of determining AC, Flurry of Blows, and unarmed damage. Goes very well with Psychic Warrior. The other thing I was considering doing is a Monk/Soulknife/Atavist (Atavist advances unarmed damage and soul blade damage).

This really depends on what level we start at, though.
