I wouldn't say the Discussion thread here is very bad (most of the time), but if you do get into Homestuck it probably is recommended that you generally shy away from the larger pockets of the fandom such as the MSPA forum or Tumblr (you should avoid Tumblr in general).

I've tried three separate times to get into MSPA/Homestuck and just can't.
I read Order of the Stick for awhile then tuned out, then I tried reading McNinja and it was about the same (though out of the ones I've read that was my favorite just because it was so stupid). I actually don't read ANY comics these days... Except Robo, and that's less "reading" and more "studying". Comics just aren't very fun for me unless I am making them myself.

If you like Exalted and the Order of the Stick, try Keychain of Creation!
It's basically Order of the Stick with Exalted, but that does not do it justice at all. And it's on indefinate hiatus, sniff.

I forgot to mention, and I dunno why I forgot to mention it, but I like reading Rice Boy...it's really not like 8-bit at all, but it's fun to read and very unique.

Wellllllllllllll, I can't believe I'm even posting this, but maybe a year ago there was this webcomic that I started. It was heavily inspired by 8-bit Theatre and Brian's premise of "heroes that actually aren't."
It was called "Explosean," and featured basically a sociopath for a super hero, embezzling off the unknowing city under his protection. Juxtaposed to him was a brilliant mad scientist as a super villain, with political aspirations for making the world a legitimately better place. The funny thing is, I actually remember approaching Matt Speroni via email to see if would want to be the paid series artist, but it didn't end up happening. I think he saw my email a few weeks later after it had been sent or something, after I had already went ahead with someone else, another talented artist named Lenny DeStefano. Anyway, the comic had a good run for the summer of 2009 (minus the first three or so pages where I was figuring out the lettering as I went.) but then the "Russian Hackers," attacked and brought down my original site, and I was unable to return it to its former glory, so I posted the pages on some crummy temporary site to hold them over until such a time when the website could be fully restored. In the meantime, other stuff was happening. I joined the circus as a fire spinner, and Lenny started working on a flash cartoon (which is awesome, by the way.) I guess we kinda just stopped. We'd probably go back to Explosean someday, when both our lives allow for it... but yeah, I guess webcomics for me took a spot on the back burner in favour of twirling fire balls around. Anyway, if you guys wanna read it, I posted the link above. Apologies for the craptasticness of the site... again, not how it was meant to be viewed. I'm thinking if people like it/think it's good, then... iono, maybe it'd be the kickstart I need to get back to making comics again. I'm definitely no Brian, but it might make for a good placebo. Oh yeah, and if you're on this board and haven't read The Dreadful... doooo eet. It actually IS really good, Matt's selling himself a bit short there. |
