A bold idea, but I doubt it. Light is as essential to them as to us. But likely the symbolic relationship between light and dark is less extreme than to us, since their world would be somewhat murky, lit mostly with indirect, artificial or bioluminous lights rather than clear sunlight. Which would fit well with their concept of "friend" and "enemy". . .

The light magic turning trolls evil makes me think of the light-dark inversion in Heart of Darkness. Especially since the guy controlling light is blinding and murdering people.

I predict either perma-death of these characters or God Tier somehow.
