there's three versions of the police officer.

1) police officer gets told whether they are right. nobody else does.

2) after the officer picks somebody, it is announce in the morning which side that player is aligned with.

3) the police officer catches mafia in the night and kills them.

I personally prefer a variation on two and one in which the officer is told whether they are right and a handful of townies are told the results as well. Half the townies required for a lynching.

I like this better because then there's a group that knows, and they have to find evidence and prove the guilt to enough other townspeople without looking scummy themselves, especially since anybody who flat-out says that they recieved a note gets modkilled.

Yeah, that thought did cross my mind just before Day 6 started. But since it was destined that i would be lynched it wouldn't have made a differance.

...I feel like such a tool.

The thought that the least suspicious might actually be the mafia crossed my mind at some point, but I dismissed it as paranoia. Bravo.

Anyway, you should send me a gift basket or something for doing so much of your work for you.

The game is over, so I can post here, right?

I would just like to say that that was possibly the most sucsessful Mafia games I have ever seen.

Too bad for the townies, though I should like to say that I was suspicious of Psycho the whole time... Guess that's not really helpful, but meh.

Can't wait for the next edition.

This is the only version I've ever seen...well, played with is more accurate. The other versions are Paranoid/Naive PO, who always gets mafia/townie results respectively. I don't see how the police officer being the only informed one is 'nearly worthless' though. Raiden was just overwhelmed and always investigated townies, which is why he stuck his neck out for Psycho Mantis. I will admit that I made a mistake in not giving the option to Roleclaim, which could have saved his life, although it would have required TWWDI to guard Raiden each night and leave the rest of the town out in the open, so I don't feel too bad. I expect roleclaiming to play a big part in the next game, and especially in the game after that where I introduce more 'custom' roles.

I will never use anything remotely like this. To me that is just a stupid way of giving the town an advantage, and ruins the whole point of guessworking. Construe that as "CMP is anti-town ZMOLOG" all you want, but you have to realize how much less fun it is for all involved if the list of player's alignments were just laid out in the open.

That's a vig.

You guys would've done well to have kept your votes for me. Unfortunately CMP gave you guys information that I thought wasn't going to help me but did. Psycho, I always considered you for lynching, but then I realised what a big help you were. You'll recieve your gift basket in the morning, ignore the ticking and read the card.

I really saw no point in lynching you Psycho, I contemplated it surely for a couple hours or so but I decided it wasn't worth it, you did our work so well after all. Though the only reason I decided to lynch deathasurous was the off chance that someone would notice who was near the top on his lynching list, namely major blood and spoonybard. I would have supported eithers lynching of course, but it didn't really matter as no one critiqued everything very much.

So CMP you adding in the masons or what next game?

Or are you adding in the assassin(or whatever its called) role?

Yeah, Props go out to PM for getting the award for "Being the best non-mafiate helper" the checks in the mail. Next time you feel paranoid jump on it. We knew not to kill you, but we did a fine job of making you seem mafiate at times, didn't we? I enjoyed the game very much and am very happy about how it played out. The only worry I had was Patrat. But he helped us a lot by quitting. GG guys, GG.

well CmP, that's why I usually play with that variation where a handful of townsfolk also get told.

then it's the mafia all pushing for a townie to get lynched, and the group of informed people all pushing for a mafiate to get lynched, and you need to use skill to convince the people in the middle without looking too scummy yourself.
