Also, I haven't seen this for myself, but supposedly when someone asked Brian about #434, he answered something like "People think Fighter is the dumbest light warrior, but he's probably the smartest." Straight from the man, yo.

Along that line of thinking, fighter's red tends to be more orange, so... Advantage: Red Mage Last edited by Pure Imaginary; 11-12-2005 at 12:14 AM. |

White Mage pink is very different than the alleged "pink" in 434.
Fighter and Red Mage tend to have very similar reds.

See, this would be so much easier if everyone had wildly different colored text. Like fighter could be red, RM purple, and WM green. That way, no confusion.

Even just moderately different color would help.
I suppose this is part of Brian's plan to keep us guessing (but only guessing "correctly," and not to waste our time on WM, Thief, whoever). |

So does this mean that it's Red Mage or a radically different Fighter? Given that the comic begins with BM and Fighter, I'd say it would be fitting for it to end with the two of them as well. I'd suspected it as a possibility, but really liked the WM idea so I thought it unlikely. Now watch me be wrong again and have it be RM. Or Brian really is screwing with us and it's WM. My head hurts.

I'm pretty sure it's pointing to BM and Fighter. BM is quite obvious, due to the last pannel. Said last pannel makes it obvious the speaker with Hell BM's text color is, infact, BM.
Now, that leaves RM and Fighter. Either could be a good candidate for the speach. RM is semi phylosophical, if not totally consentrative on manipulating everyhting around him to his advantage. But why would BM even talk to him? Besides their superhero/villan conversations, the two don't interact much in a way where BM wouldn't just kill him in the event of gaining all that evil power back (which he clearly has). Fighter, on the other hand, has been BM's frie...compa......traveling partner for years. He'd want him to either die last amonst them, or that perhaps Fighter too has emassed some sort of power. Remember, Swordopolis said that Fighter was to be the great hero of the land. It's possible this could be at the end of the comic, BM has become Chaos and has killed everyone else, and Fighter is the last line of defense. Somehow, Fighter might have gained some sort of power of his own, which would explane the gain of intelect on his part. Unless he's always had it, but just sleeping. THe backgrounds, as someone previously said, appear to be symbolic of something. I can't help but notice the first one looking kind of like Thief laying down. The smoke may mean that he's nothing but a smoldering corps now. The one of WM's pattern obviously notes that she too is dead. I'm guessing from stabbing, since there's still a dress to have blood one, or blood for that matter. The lightish one is probably either a Hadoken or Ultima. It's possible that BMs mentioning of the spell may have been an idicator to future events. The one above it is a portal of some kind. Judgeing by the red hellish warping color around it, I'm guessing sertain death awaits anyone who goes through it. So, that means that Red Mage dies in one of them, but who in the other. I'm guessing Sarda. And probably in the lighty one. Seems like Hadoken or Ultima would be needed to kill that Super-Wizard. So, last but DEFINETLY not least is Fighter. The one who he's wanted to kill more than anyone. So, here they are. BM, full of ultimate power. Fighter, the last man standing. Kind of poetic. Though, knowing Brian, it's not as easy as it seems and we're probably all going to be suprised.

Dammit! That would have been a good character change for WM, and completely fitting the recent events! Oh well, I guess fighter would still make an interesting change to this second speaker. Just as long as it's not RM. It would be absolutely against his personality to talk like the second speaker. Now watch me be wrong again.

*Please let it be known two things: This was not ment to be a fanfic, merely trying to make sense fo the words in my own mind, and two I did not know of the no fanfic law thing until just now. Though, this isn't a 'recent' post,...*
Fighter, as a knight, bloodied and torn holding sword chucks with blades much like Swordopolis attached to the chains, a holy light glowing from his body, getting up and facing Hell Chaos Black Mage. Hell Chaos Black Mage speaks, almost longingly, to Sword Fighter, “When I look back on my life, I can’t help but see an inevitable chain of events.” Sword Fighter answers, standing at his full height, “That’s ridiculous.” Hell Chaos Black Mage waves his hand, “Do YOU believe there could have been any other outcome than this?” Sword Fighter looks down for abit, before answering, “That’s not how it works, there is no grand story to history.” Sword Fighter looks away before continuing, “Things just happen. It’s the act of looking back on it that interposes a sense of narrative.” Hell Chaos Black Mage, his eyes burning with the hate that had accumulated in him over the years, asked a question, yet really just stated a fact, “You knew it was going to end here.” Sword Fighter stares into Hell Chaos Back Mage’s eyes with a determination that would rival, if not surpass even BM’s rage and hate, before answering, “Just like it was always going to, right?” Hell Chaos Black Mage looks away and chuckles to himself, “You’re catching on.” Then, he looks back at Sword Fighter, the only one who could ever stop him, the only one who could ever truly thwart his plans…the only one who made this possible…and sighs. “And yet, here we are, just as we were always going to be,” he pauses for a moment, before answering with a hint of rage in his voice, “Doesn’t that make you mad?” He continues, the rage slightly raising in his voice, “Don’t you hate yourself for it? For never having seen it coming until now?” Hell Chaos Black Mage’s voice was now controlled by his anger, his rage…all that he was, really. All that he’d ever be. “Every little thing is so painfully obvious now, isn’t it? Now that its too late, you have all the answers, don’t you?” Sword Fighter sighs, looking away, as if remember the past, before looking at Hell Chaos Black Mage with a sorrowful look and saying, “It’s not too late.” Hell Chaos Black Mage’s voice, now losing it’s anger, answered almost as pitifully, “It is for some people.” Sword Fighter answers, “Are you trying to goad me?” The two start to circle one another, each knowing that only they could bring about the end to their war. Hell Chaos Black Mage stops, and with a humorous tone, asks Sword Fighter, “One last thing, do you remember when we went to Gurgu?” Sword Fighter smiles, and answers in a faint voice, “Yes.” Hell Chaos Black Mage asks in almost as faint of a voice, “Why did you do it like that?” Sword Fighter answers with a small laugh, “We thought it’d be funny.” “Heh, that was funny, wasn’t it.” Fade to black. Yeah, kind of deep for a first post. So shoot me, I like writing depressing endings. That and I think this would be a great way to end the series... Last edited by Burkion; 11-12-2005 at 03:30 AM. |
