I think I should have Saturday free. Should be able to record, assuming nothing goes too wrong.

More advice: Go to the ancient cave asap.
The blue chest gear? Fuckin' spiff. There's, for instance, a sword in there for Selan that has an attack power of 400 (!!). Remember Gades Blade? The one that was all like "Oh man that's so OP"? Yeah, that had an ATP of a mere 200. You can also get a snow sword, again, for Selan, with an ATP of something like 360 or 340, but it also has 60 or 40 DFP (better than most armor), a water gauntlet for her shield spot with 75 defense on it (about double the best shield I've been able to get for her so far), a jewel that gives thirty AGI--enough to make Guy faster than most enemies. The list goes on. Basically you can get end game equipment early on in there. And judging by the trouble you had with that spider, it'd probably help you out a lot.

I can never decide whether I like the Sinistral battle sprites better in Lufia 1 or Lufia 2. In Lufia 1 they ooze power, but the Lufia 2 ones feel more titanic. The builkier build gives them more gravity.

So you get to keep the blue chest gear? I thought someone was saying you didn't. :/

Edit: You're set to level one upon entering with all your equipment, items, and spells removed--except for equipment found in blue chests within the cave (the Gades Sword counts toward this, even if you didn't find it there). This, unfortunately, includes your tools and your reset spell. Even your capsule monsters are devolved. On each level there's a variety of enemies and chests, which you use to gain experience and gear up for lower levels. Most items are in red chests, which means that they will disappear when you leave the cave. Red chest items are usually of relatively congruent quality to what you might find normally at the character levels you're currently at, with the occasional far weaker or far stronger piece (like finding a thunder axe on the first level, or a battle knife on the 35th). These, again, disappear when you leave. However, on rare occasion. Perhaps once every 10 levels, if you're lucky, you will find a blue chest. These blue chests have gear that is equivalent to end game items, or close to it, and they can be brought in and out of the cave as you like, being used in the overworld and in the cave itself on future explorations. In this way, every foray into the cave makes you more powerful for the next. It also gives you a reason to enter it--the gear. Unfortunately there's still a heavy level of luck involved in you getting to the bottom, and the game definitely rewards different gear in the cave than outside. For instance, outside? You want high defense on your armor. Inside? You'll find yourself wearing a shitty tough hide well into the 30s, maybe even the 40s, because you haven't found a healing spell yet, and that re-energize IP ability is just more useful than an extra 60 DFP when it's your only method of keeping your team alive. And if you don't find armor with a healing IP or some healing magic? Well... then you're just kinda fucked. Not to mention that healing magic itself isn't even that useful, because there's no way to regenerate MP other than IP abilities on armor (silva armor, mirak plate, magic bikini) or high-magics and ex-magics found sporadically in chests. You'll find that you'll never cast attack magic, because it's just not worth the MP cost when you can't easily regenerate it. So yeah, Ancient Cave--totally different game. Also, that 400 ATP sword? Holy elemental. That makes it even better. Especially considering Gades Sword can't hurt undead, while the blaze sword does double + damage to them. There are lots of undead in the game.

Okay, so since I can get the three treasure chests plus a hidden one from that tower I thought had collapsed after I got teleported out, should I do that behind the scenes before the next episode, or during?

Some tips for the ancient cave, the best party I can think of for it is Arty, Guy, Selan, and Maxim, so that gives you a time frame for when your party is best for doing it. I personally find that being fast outweighs being strong in that place, because going first has saved my life so many times while doing the Ancient Cave.
There is also some blue quest equipment you can bring down with you from the regular world, mainly jewels, being the Earth Jewel, Twist Jewel, Gloom Jewel, Thundo Jewel, Gorgan Rock, Water Jewel, Catfish Jewel, Camu Jewel, and Spido Jewel. The Catfish Jewel is dropped by the catfish boss, and if you got it then hey it has a great IP to get you through the lower levels. If you can collect Twist Jewels before you go in I highly suggest you do it. They are amazing. BE warned though, the Ancient Cave is much more difficult than the normal game and filming a descent would be taxing on your harddrive since a single run can take HOURS

Speed is all well and good in there, but Arty isn't all the great without magic, and if you can go first but don't kill anything it's kind of pointless. Then again I'm not 100% on whether he can equip the snow sword or blaze sword, so maybe he's not entirely useless after a few partial runs. That's also the earliest party you can go in with, which has it's own advantages, as well (like taking the blue chest ownage out into the game world sooner).

Where do I get twist jewels?
Also, with the Ancient Cave, my plan is to use save states so that I don't have to do it in one sitting, but maybe having a backup save at the beginning that I go to if I die.

If you die in the ancient cave they just boot you to the exit without being able to take your spiffy blue chest items that you found that trip out with you.
