I guess I'll throw Fragile Dreams out for consideration. The game isn't terrible, but the gameplay is, so what's good about it only makes it mediocre.

I played and beat both Drakengard games.

I got 3 of the endings of Drakengard 1, but only the first on Drakengard 2.

I suppose that shouldn't be too surprising, considering the amount of people who say their guilty pleasure is Dynasty Warriors. However, Drakengard seems to catch more flak than DW, so there you go, I guess.

I remember Sonic Spinball being fairly weird as a platform/ pinball simulator. But I was big into Sonic back then so I loved it anyway. It also gets some negative points for screwing around with StHh's already messed up continuity by having something like 8 or 13 emeralds instead of 7.

Wow, a lot of great responses so far. A couple of issues, though:

I do not consider Legend of Dragoon a terrible game. In fact, it is one of my favorite PSOne games of all time (even if it takes at least two hours to beat the final boss).

Chrono Cross was also a pretty good game, as was Vagrant Story.

As for FF X-2, VIII, and XII, I liked them, but I can understand why many would not. I have not played XIII yet, so I will reserve my judgement until I do.

I do have another game that deserves mention: Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest. Yet another RPG for beginners. It had decent graphics for its time, but the fact that you were required to clear out the "random encounters areas" of the maps to progress through the game was annoying. Also, in the dungeons, the encounters were anything but random. Still, I had fun and I beat it fairly quickly (luckily I had rented it and not actually bought it).

I am sure we all have different opinions about these and many other games, but that is what makes this thread so fun. So let the madness continue.

me 2.

OR, fighting ghosts and stuff and managing your inventory made for very meh gameplay, but the rest of the time, when you're walking around and experiencing, it's awesome. The way the back story unwinds is much better than one expects from videogame writing.

Since FFXIII and FFII keep coming up, I might as well put up KQ. No that is not "Kalphite Queen", I seriously don't know what the fuck it stands for and I'm not sure the developers did either. It's open source which led to its downfall (or haitus if I ever give a shit and try to finish it). It's basically part of a free clone of the old FF rpg's. If the game was complete and the game was consistent with the currently finished sections, then I wouldn't have minded paying $40 to play this.

It's actually fucking awesome as far as I'm concerned, but I call it terrible because of that point you hit where monsters stop appearing and half the text boxes start with TODO. And the worst part is I remember an earlier version where you could actually play as the thief without having her story to be finished. The current one just has her stand there and say that her quest hasn't been written yet.

If I get far enough into programming and remember this thing still I'll probably take up finishing it if it stays like this.

LoD was one you either liked or didn't. The biggest complaints I've heard about it are that there's too many cutscenes, they didn't like the battle system, they thought the story was a rip off of FF7, and/or that it wasn't written well. I can see maybe a couple of those being valid, but the FF7 thing is tenuous at best.

Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link was another if not terrible then unpopular game that I liked. I was especially proud when I beat the darn thing, the Great Temple is very hard to get through, not to mention the final bosses (you better hope you are maxed out on magic and life when you make it there).

The only complaints I would have about LoD is that the battle music was a little wierd, and that it takes forever to beat the game. The cutscenes were some of the best looking seen on the PSOne.

I think we can safely assume Nonsie considers them to be of roughly equal terribleness.
