well the way the world is shaping up, whatever we will be fighting over, water, food, oil, yea that war is inevitable and the nation with the biggest military will likely be the one to survive.

Not that I think they are competent enough to actually realize that, they probably spend that much because we have been spending that much for decades and politicians were never big on change.

This is ridiculous though, it would have cost a fraction of that to avert the problem 5% of your countries gdp a year of the last say 10 years would have completely removed your countries need for fossil fuels outside of transportation.

So put the entire state of North Carolina under the status of "Sticking your head in the sand and waiting for it to all boil over.

There's being ignorent of what's going on... and then there's this. I can't even think of a proper discription for this.

.... did you read the article?

it uses electrolysis to split the water and then powers the engine by burning the hydrogen with the oxygen it split from said process, even assuming 100% efficiency you would better off just using the battery to run the car so you remove the weight of the other products.

The entire thing is a dud.

Well it claims not to use electrolysis but then doesn't propose any method of actually splitting the water so I reckon it uses the power of wishful thinking thus neatly sidestepping the problem.

well not 100%. If instead of burning the hydrogen we used it as a material for a fusion reaction we'd get more energy out than we put in.

So all we have to do is master fusion. Then miniaturize it into the size of a car engine. Then find a way to deal with all the heat, and magnetism, probably radiation, safety issues. but if we do all that then we can have it.
