Yup

My personal fanfic backstory is that he and Jeff have a massive con-game going where they trick would be heroes into giving them money for tips on quests and stuff.

So really, the old man in blue saved the world, I mean, had he not tricked Fighter out of his money, Fighter wouldn't have applied for the Light Warriors job..

Hi there, not a frequent poster, but this seems as good a time and thread to post as any.

I first found this comic in the early Survivor 8-bit days and have read it regularly since. Sad to see it end, but it had to happen sooner or later. Thank you, Brian Clevinger, for 9 years of sadist show comedy, one of the finest examples I have encountered of said form of comedy. And thank you Matt Speroni and Jeff Powell for illustrating and lettering the ending so beautifully. It was a fun ride that spanned my latter high school days and the entirety of my college education and I'm glad to have been on it.

Whoa, the epilogue is all...fancy and serious and not all about infuriating everyone who reads it! Cool. Loving all the little references in the background. Have to say this seems like as fitting an ending as I could have hoped for.

The fact that we all got the amazing proper ending we were hoping for has me all paranoid. Brian didn't use this chance to drop another "it was all a dream" on us? I keep half-expecting another shoe to drop.

I'm going to say the reason Red Mage and Thief seem so much saner is that they've spent three years away from the rest of the Light Warriors living quasi-normal lives. In Black Mage's case, it's probably more depression and impotent resignation that make him act normal.

I have read the comic since... heck I don't even remember, but I love it!

It's sad to see it end, but I did wonder what would happen after they beat Chaos, would it be over? Probably so.

Well...

Unless The Final Fantasy world is struck by chaos once again, when a wicked Empire lead by Emperor Mateus decides to invade Elf-Land and conquer the world. Forcing Thief to gather up heroes to oppose this force... well... only to have the misfortune to have to seek aid from som old... 'friends'...

Is that a good idea? Moving on to FF2, but placing it in the same world and switching the leads to the 8Bit-Theatre cast?

stabbity death will become famous soon enough. Eventually. Maybe.

I am about to read. I just want to commemorate the moment. I've been reading this since the third strip, and there will never be another new one again. This, for some reason, seems profound to me.

[commemorate]Okay.[/commemorate]

Edit: gleeeeeeeeeee

It was wonderful!

Waaaaaait a second, is that ACTUALLY Garland and not just an in-costume waiter?! He's shocked to see Left-Hand man Gary and EPS (both of whom I just noticed on the second read-through)

And Sulk! I missed him too! Awesome
