The only reason OR would do this is if he was trying to set something up on night one for his own ends. If I was making a move like this it would be if I remembered that the mafia has already had a night, and if they've found an investigation role they are trying to use that person the confirm one of them as town through a series of setups and role blocks. One way or another OR is up to something fairly funky and I'm not a fan of people trying to pull crap over on me.

PS, If you have a revenge role and you're dumb enough to blow it on Day 1 when the Mafia isn't as likely to have everyone voting the same way, you deserve to die for doing something this silly.

I'm highly HIGHLY suspicious of OR because I can't see any reason at all why you would claim day one. It's a powerful role to have for town if it exists but not so much when the mafia knows about it.
But I don't know what kind of crazy scum move this is. It odd to say the least.
The question is whether he wants to be lynched or he wants to be investigated.

Extremely good point. If they found the PO, I can see them trying to use this to their advantage by blocking the PO and having him think it was just because OR's role "worked." Then they cap the PO because they "found out" who he was when he told town about his results, though in reality, they already knew.

I'm a little hesitant about voting for OR. He actually has a pretty good reason for claiming, or at least no good reason for not claiming. After all, if he's telling the truth the only way he can die is from being lynched, so why not take steps to prevent that and just last the whole game?

Still, it's entirely possible that it's just some ploy. Though I have to say I don't really see people come up with grand, over-arching schemes much in these games. Especially on Day 1.

Either way, he didn't factor in early, unpressed roleclaims being pretty suspicious. So, judgment reserved.

Because if he didn't claim he could disrupt mafia/cult plans because they would try and target him and thus they would have a failed action and town would get another round to find mafia.
Generally mafia win when they have over 50% of the town remaining so they can just not target him and still win.
So if the role is as he claims, by claiming he has destroyed a town power role for no good reason.

That is why I don't believe him.
