Anyway, I would just simply establish that Dante's a straight-out badass. It's the way his character was made and the way that he presents himself - he simple just doesn't give a shit.

I don't even think that the guy who made DMC 2 liked DMC2. It's pretty much been written out of continuity in the DMC world right now, seeing how everything that's ever been in DMC has taken place before it.

And Cloud is a fantasy land anime boy who wields swords bigger than he is like batons from day one. I'm no expert on DMC, but out-of-the-gate Cloud is probably stronger than Dante.

Fuck, you wouldn't get impaled by Cloud's swords. They're so loving huge that if they cut into you at all you can bet your ass you're in 2 separate dante chunks. Don't get me wrong, I think the idea of Omnislash is kinda dumb and stuff, but you seem to have some things mixed up. This is Omnislash, not Omnistaboncethenleavetheswordimpaledinhimandwatcha sheh asasillycinematicandpullsitout. He is necessarily going through a process of attacks that are not made to impale, but to severely cut in twain 15 times.

I don't see how that makes Dante any less capable of not only completely avoiding 90% of the hits that are directed at him, but more importantly, flippantly disregards any sort of hit that actually succeeds at harming him. I could categorize everything that's happened to Dante since the beginning, but Krylo did it for me and I'm lazy. I'm sure that if Dante didn't completely ignore the attack or dodge it or block it or whatever trick he had, he'd just catch it or the sword would stick in him, and he'd just pull it out, whip it around, and use it to whack Cloud on the nose like a naughty puppy.

Even more so, taking out all sorts of Magical Deus Ex Machinae Powers that both of them have in cutscenes and movies. Cloud has eternal life through Phoenix and Omnislash - Dante has all the Devil Stars and Vital Stars he needs, as well as every damn weapon that's ever been out, and Trickster, Royal Guard, Swordmaster, and Gunslinger styles. He can block, dodge, or just take any hit that Dante could possibly dish out.

And I'm sure that when he's done beating Cloud around for a while he'd just drag Cloud's un-revived corpse into hell and toss him down there for a while just so Dante could get some sleep.

Although to be fair, Dante DID have the horrible "LIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!!!" cutscene and some seriously bad voice acting in the DMC games, which lowers his awesomeness levels somewhat. And some painfully corny cutscenes. All the "woo-hoo"-ing in 3.... *shudder*

Being more fair, Cloud had Advent Children.

All you're saying is that "He parries and busts his chops" And frankly behind Clouds big sword is a crazy badass fighting motherfucker as well, even if he's a whiny emo whatever. If Dante is stronger, it's not by much, and frankly it's a joke to say that he can't get hurt because he can. Regenerative fuckwad, maybe, but he is not immortal. Cloud, for all intents and purposes, is, and can most definitely put out a hurting like no other on anyone.

Listen, we could go about this argument in a mature and reasonable manner or we could realize that like 5 large breasted girls are in Cloud's party at any given moment, one of which can cast auto life on him a dozen times before the fight ends. That gives him power in numbers, a distraction tactic, and a helluva lot more lives than Dante has.

Well, if we want to count all the people Dante has fought alongside...

Lady, Nero, Vergil, Trish, Lucia.

Each of them has proven to be very nearly Dante's equal in combat, and Cloud does have the three person limit.

But, again, it is a one-on-one fight. It is not Dante-when-he-fights versus Cloud-when-he-fights. The latter normally fights with party members, the former does not, but the point is who would win if the two were to fight each other in single combat.

Dante tries too hard. He's not bad-ass; he just REALLY wants to be. He's like that guy who dresses like a rap reject and walks down the street with a stupidly exaggerated swagger to show how much 'tude he has. That's Dante: Spiderman 3 Peter Parker.

He wasn't bad in DMC 1, but every since then, he's been pretty much a parody of himself.

Edit: Not that Cloud is particularly bad-ass either, but at least he isn't a great big show-off.

Yes, yes he is. Dante, in no particular order: Is swallowed by a giant demon whale, fighting his way to its heart after battling parasites the size of small houses and finally kills it and cuts his way out through its eye, easily chops a giant demon toad in half with one swing, easily defeats Nero(who picked up a demon at least ten stories tall and punched it in the face), easily destroys a giant stone gate easily several hundred feet tall by swinging a sword at it from a LONG way away, etc. Not to mention all the beatings he took that were previously mentioned.

Yes, he is both more badass and stronger than Cloud.
