They play defensively, Aggron's have got ridiculous defense (terrible spec def though) and a decent attack stat. Have to watch the hell out for electricity though, it's terrible spec def and 4x weakness means thundershocks will kill it.

And you could always throw in a gameshark to get something early (a Trapinch would be cool, as would one of the ghost pokemon from Mt Pyre). Could grab some Pokemon you like from the earlier Gens. Say it escaped from a zoo, or it's trainer got eaten by a Gyarados or quit training and eloped with a Gardevoir.
Aggron's Steel/Rock. Only takes 1X damage from electric attacks.

It DOES take 4X damage from Fighting and Ground, and 2x from Water though.

Lots of resists though.

Sableye from the cave with Steven in it, dark/ghost types make everything better. Along with how Aryll will react to it.

This. Especially if Sableye is in fact relatively innocent, but simply unable to have it's mind read by Aryll. For member #6, I'd recommend just swapping around HM slaves or at least something with later access to Fly.

And I totally didn't know you could catch Marill's that early or I'd have suggested him. Too lazy to check, gonna assume you didn't GS it in :P

I like the unreadable but actually nice Sableye idea.

Huh, got confused, knew it was really weak to some common types though.

No, you can find Marill this early in Emerald. Dunno if Ruby or Sapphire, but definitely Emerald. I should know because I had one in my last playthrough on a physical cartridge.

I dunno... if I'm gonna use a Fly slave I might as well pick up something useful. If I didn't absolutely HATE Normal/Flying (for it's horrible typing) I'd pick up a Taillow. Swablu does get Dragon/Flying when it hits Altaria... but I've had an Altaria in almost every game of R/S/E I've played and I wanna shake things up. Likewise, I've had a Crobat every single game since Gen II, so that's out of the question... Tropius is slow as all hell despite its fantastic typing... I refuse to pick either of the two rats with wings Wingull/Pelipper)...

Fake EDIT: I just checked, Flygon has access to Fly... and so does Vibrava, so I shouldn't need a temporary Fly slave. So that's that then. I'll GS in a Trapinch in the next couple of chapters (Cartoonist, take note here please), and now I just need to decide between Aron and Sableye...

Name: Worf
Species: Marill
Age: Approx. 3 years
Sex: Male

Worf was born the proud son of an Azumarill chieftan by one of his many consorts. In Marill culture, the number of concubines a male had won to himself was considered a measure of his worth as a warrior. To win his mate, and any consorts after, a Marill had to try his skill against every warrior in his tribe, up to and including his own father. Sadly, Worf was denied this right, as a Pokemon Trainer had claimed the chieftan exactly one month before Worf's third birthday, which would have marked the age at which a Marill had to test his mettle against his sire. As such, the other elders of his tribe found for him a new place; though denied his birthright, he was proud to serve as a scout near Petalburg City, to keep watch for any human who might come to take another member of the tribe.

To the Marill, who understood the human tactic of doing battle to weaken, and then capture, Pokemon of the wild, this was the way chieftans often ascended beyond the role of leadership: for to be chosen by a human to share in his adventures, with the promise of many battles ahead, was seen as the true test of a warrior's skill, and any that were taken from the tribe were honored in song and story for their courage. Worf was initially angry at Ecks' attempt to capture him, as it brought back bitter memories of the life he was denied by the trainer who captured his father. He has since become more comfortable with his new place among Ecks' team, and is proud that he, like his father before him, was chosen to follow a human into the world of battle and glory.

Writing a record of my past, Captain?

Worf, you don't have to call me Captain. Ecks is just fine.

I apologize sir, but as you are my leader, and the one who earned my companionship through trust in your Counsilor and determination to win, it would be the height of disrespect to call you anything other than your rank.

My rank? I'm not a real Captain, Worf.

You are the leader of this cadre of warriors, are you not, sir?

If by cadre you mean this team, then yes, I am the guy who calls the shots.

Then by my logic, as leader of these warriors, you are our Captain.

If you have to call me that for the sake of your honor as a Marill... I'll allow it. Just don't be so stiff all the time, okay?

As a Marill, sir, I am rather soft and pudgy. I do not see any possible way that I could be stiff.

That went WAY over his head, Boss.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz... what's going... on... over here?

Nothing, Mac, just doing up Worf's character profile.

You... gonna do... one... for... me... too?

That's the general idea. I do one after each leg of our journey. So after we reach Rustboro and raze the Gym and it's Leader, I'll do one up for you.

Okay... that... sounds... good... I... think I... think I might... doze off... again... G'nite, boss... Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Boy, this guy can sleep.

I am still of the opinion that he is very lazy.

Do be nicer to Mac, Worf. His physiology demands that he rest almost constantly.

What do you mean, Councilor?

I mean that his metabolism, the way his body draws in and uses energy, demands near constant rest or his system will go into shock. He could die if he ever did anything too strenuous.

I... understand. Though if this is the case, I do not understand his usefulness to this cadre.

He helps the team in ways other than direct combat, Worf. His narcolepsy is so contagious that after one good yawn, whoever he's up against will fall asleep.

That DOES sound rather useful. My apologies, Ensign Mac.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Okay! Finally! Now I must go forth and lay waste to Rustboro! I'll have my first Gym badge and Cartoonist can FINALLY TAKE NEWBIE/ROOKIE STATUS OFF MY NAME ON THE LITTLE SCOREBOARD THING! I know, it's rather silly of me to type this up and dump it off on you guys without reading your feedback on the chapter first, but whatever. Like I mentioned above, Mac's profile will go up post-Roxanne, unless another party weekend shows up and I don't have Rustboro completely destroyed by Friday night. Which might end up being the case, I've got a couple of open houses to crash this weekend, some drinking buddies to get sloshed with, etcetera, etcetera. Or I may not get sloshed or whatever it is the kids do with alcohol these days... don't they rub it on their skin for some reason? Or was that Viccs vapor rub? I dunno. Anyway, until next time... ON POKE BALL E!

Just to comment on your little blurb at the bottom, I don't see why you wouldn't do that. Caffeine can be absorbed through the skin, why not try it with its counterpart? Call it an experiment and see what happens!

What strikes me about this Let's Play is how different your interpretation of the protagonist is from the comic version.

In the comics he's kind of... gay.

Make that supergay.

That's the wonderful thing about silent protagionists. You can give them just about any personality you want.

And yet he's one of the only characters in a canon relationship. Hell, he went all super feminine because He was in love with her since they were toddlers, and his machismo ended up getting him hurt and scaring her.

Not that I know that off the top of my head or anything.
