What was that about?

The terrible movie from my childhood? The live action Super Mario Brothers movie. Only worth seeing in a group of people who care more about having fun watching the movie with each other than they care about watching the movie, really. It has its funny moments (most of them involving Dennis Hopper), but is otherwise exactly what I've come to expect from Hollywood adaptations of video game franchises.

To be fair, though, I -did- like the movie as a kid. I don't know why.

As for the good movie, it's Young Frankenstein. It's an affectionate parody of old horror movies, starring Gene Wilder as the grandson of Doctor Frankenstein. After a series of unlikely events, he ends up repeating his grandfather's famous experiment. I'd say hilarity ensues afterwords, but really, the movie is funny right from the start.

Alright, I want to make this into an avatar for here and possibly as a spray for my Steam games, preferably with a transparent background. Problem: how do I do this?

This is if you want to do it in GIMP, I don't know about other editors.

When you open up the file, add an alpha channel and then use the continuous color select tool to select and remove the white background. Do this with each layer of the image. Then use "save as" and when you go into the animation options, set the frames to "replace" instead of "stack".

Hmm. For some reason the animation won't play when I try to use it as an avatar here. How do other people get the animated avatars to work?

It's six pixels too big. The forum is resizing it and auto saving as a .png.

This is also destroying any transparency you may have had working.

--Cut off six pixels from one of/3 from both the sides in the GIMP/Photoshop/Whatever.

I consider it more a blow to your masculinity that you think that was a blow to your masculinity. A real man can shrug it off with confidence and laugh at his friend for being too much of a pussy to trust you on it.
