LoD Chapter 2 - The Legend of the Forsaken Brother
The Goraz Teleportation Gate was busy as always. Ayden walked right out of the crowd and approached the group. "Good, you're right on time. The diviners managed to find the approximate location the next altar will reveal itself." He handed each person a ticket with a symbol written in ink. These were used by the gates not only as spell components, but also to direct which gate to teleport to. "Its supposed to show in the park at the center of Fariya. Don't expect the battle to be as easy as the one last night; I think that one was just the tip of the iceberg. Anyway, I don't want to keep you, so good luck."
As Ayden started to walk away, Ian said, "Wait, aren't you coming with us?" "I've got other urgent matters to attend. Specifically Ba'Nian issues. I'm confident you eight can take down whatever comes at you. You go ahead and save the world, I'll be making sure you've got a world left to save." Ayden turned around again, then walked off into the crowd. The group walked up the steps and between the pillars. Before they could blink, they were looking at the snowy town of Fariya.

Karnok sniffed the cold air and then pulled out a small blue herb, putting it in his pipe he strikes a tinder stick and lights it. The same spice like scent floated gently on the cold air. He seemed to not even notice the sudden temperature change. He had been silent the whole night, drinking nothing but a mammoth sized mug of water. "Dis be being far from da home I be knowin." He mutter to himself. He reaches up and scratches behind one ear before starting out into the city, looking around for an indication on the correct direction to head, giving up he looks over at Ian hoping that at least one of them knew where they were going.

Kerith didn't know whether he'd been here or not. He'd been in a lot of cold places before, but all he could remember were arenas and some scenery in the countryside when he got the rare oppurtunity to look outside. Somehow, the area felt familiar, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. Shaking it off, he got straight to thinking about what to do.
"Anyone got any ideas? I, for one, have no clue where to go." |

Renetta couldn't hold back the memories. Fariya was her hometown. She could even point out her own house from her childhood years. To her, the wind was even colder, yet she didn't shiver. She supposed that even if it wasn't until she saved the world that she could come back here, it still would've felt like it was too soon.
"...It must have been six years since dad took me away from here." Regardless of when she felt she was going to resolve the mysterious death and disappearance in her family, it looked like the mission was going to throw it right at her, whether she was prepared or not. |

Connor looked over at Renetta. He didn't know if the woman had meant to speak out loud or not.
"To answer your question, Kerith," the monk said, turn to the pit fighter, "I believe the town would be the obvious choice." The minotaur turned again, placing his gaze on Renetta. "Perhaps one among our number knows this place?"

Is anyone familiar with Fariya?
Ian looks all around the area in which he appeared, and says "Shall we continue into the village? Surely there is more chance of finding what we seek there." He paused for a moment, then continued, "Is anyone familiar with Fariya? Perhaps a city square would be a good place to start."

"Fariya...the eye of the storm raging within me..."
Renetta nodded and stepped foreward. "Fariya isn't really a bustling city, so I don't think it's changed all that much in the six years I've been gone. Hell, I probably still know everyone who lives here, except the people born since I've been gone."
Renetta separated from the group and got a much better view of the town. "My house, or what used to be my house is pretty close to the square. I lived there with my family until my mother died. It happened during a mission to find some medicinal herbs up in the mountains over there." Renetta directed an index finger at the nearby mountain range. "But that's a story for another time. The central square, right? C'mon, let's go!" Renetta kept a pretty normal pace. She didn't want to give into her excitement, but she was definitely excited. Big time. These people had answers. Answers dad never gave her. Answers she needed desperately. Six years, she forced herself to believe, and now she was shattering the story she was told. She was going... Focus, Renetta. The mission comes first. These people are the only reason you're here so soon. You expected it wouldn't be until you got your A license and ran away from home that you got to come here. You're still a C license and your hometown is right before you. Remember, the mission comes first. Find out about your family later. "Central Square. Central Square. Central Square..." Renetta kept chanting just loud enough for the others to hear, as though it was her chanting that kept her focused on leading them to Central Square. Always... one eye on my pocket.
Jen looked off into the distance from the Central Square, and leaned against a building. Sighing, he wondered how he'd be able to get into the palace, looming itself over the cityscape as if taunting him.
Lost in his thoughts, he drifted back to the bar where he'd gotten this assignment... "What about the palace gaurd?" he'd asked, a bit reluctant at this sort of heist. "What about the police? What about my ass, man?" "If you're as good a thief as you say you are, that shouldn't be a problem, should it?" Jen had looked him square in the eye. "I'm the best." A hundred gold pieces, he'd offered Jen. And so he took it... and now he had to figure out how to get in and out of there intact. His left ear twitched as he heard something though, and he glanced back to see Renetta strutting down the street, obviously trying to contain herself. Looking past her for a second he also saw a troupe of people following her -- a strange collection of Minotaurs, warriors and... oh, hey, a fellow canine! He considered waving to the wolf, but instead hummed to himself and turned around, looking as if to ignore her. They looked like they were from out of town... he'd have to keep an eye on them for sure... And, being as casual as he could possibly be, he waited until she was just a step or two behind him and sighed again, before spinning around hard to his left, heading the other way in a hurry. *SMACK!* "Oh, sorry!" he said, apologizing to her as he patted her shoulder and backed away, his small frame looking even smaller compared to her likewise small stature. "Didn't see ya there." She looked surprised, but half-laughed and walked away, muttering, "No, it's no problem." He flashed her a quick smile from his rougishly handsome face and turned again, walking away as the others came up behind her, finally, and entered the Square. Once he was out of easy eyesight, he brought out his right hand and fingered the two new gold coins there. Not much, but they'd help buy him a dinner tonight before he tackled the palace problem. |

Karnok walks quickly to the front of the group. "Da town square not be where we be goin." He says. "We be headin to da park, dat be where da portal be appearin." Karnok sounded the closest to irritated sense he had first introduced himself. It occurs to you that nothing he has said has really had a lot of emotion except when he had made that initial attack in the water key's temple. "All we be needin ta do is be checkin things there."
Right about then the man, or rather fox man, walks into Renetta. Karnok narrows his eyes at the creature as he apologizes and walks away. He says nothing about him however. He had an feeling the man was trouble but felt that they had much more important things to deal with then a possible trouble maker. Turning back to the recovering Renetta he speaks again. "So which way do we be goin." OOC: I had been working on the first half of that post for an hour or so during commercial breaks trying to get it sound right, so I decided not to scrap it for discontinuity.

Several policemen were walking around the town square. The less-than-ferocious officeres weren't there to really enforce the law, just to discourage people from breaking it. One of them spotted the newcomers by the way they were underdressed for the weather, and as both customary and the law of the city, he was obliged to give them a flier with the most wanted people in town.
"Excuse me, I hope I'm not bothering you, but this is a matter of your own safety." The officer handed Renetta the flier as the rest of the group gathered around to look at it. "They're Fariya's Most Wanted. They've all committed serious crimes. If you see someone on this list or find their whereabouts, report to an officer immediately. Its in the public interest, have you seen any of these people?" There were nine names on the flier, some accompanied with crude sketches, some not. The names were: Noku Rin, Riku Rin, Harold Watson, Trevor Clifford, Eru Torola, Sorath Arius, Fiora Smith, Albert Lichen, and Sora Kanos.
