Doesn't seem a whole lot worse than most years, really. California always has quakes, I'm mildly surprised a 3.0 with no casualities even made a blurb in the newspaper, to be completely honest. You hear about a meteorite striking every couple years, and usually with no casualities (just like in Iran). So Iran had an earthquake, some small island hand an earthquake, and there was a fire in california a bit bigger than they usually have (california gets lots of fires too). And I'll bet both of those earthquakes were near fault lines, like the CA 3.0. Hardly reminiscent of any angry god of any mythology/religion I've seen... they tend to be a lot meaner. Not to mention this borders on that no religious discussion rule (if not directly into it). Bad JadGuy!

I'm with krylo on this one...natural disasters happen all the time.

Also remember that news tends to focus on negative things, so there's probably a lot of good stuff happening in the world too that no one's bothered to mention because, generally, people are more interested in death and destruction.

Wow, for once you're agreeing with me instead of me agreeing with you. Hah!

But... actually, even in one of those stories, the one about the earthquake in Iran, they talk about how it's having lots of positive effects for US/Iran relations, and, how if everything goes properly, it could have large positive effects for Iraq and Afghanistan. So, yah, good things are happening... they even have to mention them while talking about natural disasters.

We don't allow religious discussions. And even if we did, isn't the idea that the suffering in Iran right now is some kind of divine retribution pretty presumptuous? Not to mention really pretty nasty.
