History of the Sekihoutai
Has anyone seen Rurouni Kenshin (If you haven't, you must die ^^)? Well, I just did some reading on the Sekihoutai, and it seems like the event actually happened. The Sekihoutai were real. Can anyone expand on this? Here's the site address: http://www.geocities.com/sekisinhokoku/
Or am I just stupid? ><

Actually all of the events of that Series are based on real events and people. If you watch some of the extras on the Samuri X DVD's it'll go into more detail about it all, it's actaully really interesting though.

Really? Hmm... I'll have to get it off of Netflix. Thanks. Isn't it kinda disturbing though that it actually happened?

Oh hi! :D

Not at all. All works of fiction are based on something normal in real life, whether story or world events. Kenshin just models after real life events more than others.

Yeah, I can definitely see your point there. And I'm not at all surprised that something like this happened, it's just that it does make me kinda sad. Don't know why, but it does.

In my current World History book, according to one of my friends it mentions Himura Battosai (that's the correct name, right?) I haven't found it yet, but if so, I think it's pretty neat. So yeah, that stuff actually happened. (probably not exactly like the manga/anime portrays but still...)

Yes, you spelled it correctly, and that's very intersting. Hmm... Is it a text book?

I know - the persecuted underground christians, and resistence to the meiji reformation by warriors who fought in the previous war - happened in reality and in the show.
Oniwaban and Katsu Kaishu I'm very fimiliar with I also remember appearing on the program - I think the ninja clans near the end had historical connections too. There's probably more, I just can't remember it very well.
