The Elemental Orbs
Why do you think Sarda wants the elemental orbs?
My favorite theory is that he is going to use them to heat his cave. They can be quite drafty, you know.

It could be for something highly trivial (hey, this is Sarda).
Or it could be something highly destructive (again, Sarda). I would just say it would be something fairly stupid.

More importantly, will 8-bit end when they are collected? It was the point of the game.

Look at my Custom User Title!

Who says there are only four orbs? There could be dozens! Or hundreds! Thousands upon thousands of orbs, each more inconsequential than the last! An orb for every condiment! An orb for every species of potato! Two orbs in every garage!
8BT IS ETERNAL.

It probably won't end right away, but I think we're already well past halftime at this point. About two thirds to three quarters through, maybe? Either way, there's still Chaos to take care of, not to mention certain Dark God-related subplots. Which may or may not be the same.
But yeah, I've said it before: the Light Warriors' lack of persistance when questioning Sarda will turn against them one day. |

Maybe...
Here's a thought: Maybe he wants them to go and get the orbs because he wants the orbs. What if he just likes how they look and the added benefit of seeing the four of them in extreme agony as they go about collecting them? Considering how nice of a guy Sarda is, that doesn't seem incredibly unlikely...

I think it is only half way done, because the fiends the gods and the dark warriors still need to do somthing with light warriors, right before chaos.
