Geek Panel
I was just informed that my radio show will now be every Saturday instead of every other Saturday or "whenever we feel like giving you a slot"-erday. This means that there will be more continuity between shows and more of a chance to build a following. But, it also gives me a chance to screw with the format a little.
I was thinking some of you might want to do some video game/anime/movie talk a-la the Nerdy Show. It would be topics that we decide on beforehand, new releases, reviews, controversy... anything that could lead to spirited debate. Then weave some rock in between. As far as I know there would be no other radio show like it in the tri-state area. Let me know what you think. It's always more fun with more people. We have studio phone lines available, or we could Skype you in and give you aliases if you're uncomfortable giving out your name. If you think this kind of thing might alienate the listenership, just remember, I have no listenership. |

I'm up for it if you'll have me. I can talk about both animu and the vidjamagaims.

I'm happy so many are interested. Not sure how we would set this up, we could probably work it out with everyone on at once. Though I forgot to mention that there is a problem me and Nikose ran into where the person on Skype can hear others on Skype, but not anyone using the actual phone line. So everyone would have to get a microphone.
Another thing is that there is no censor delay. Meaning whatever you say is out there as soon as you say it. Short story, one slip and I may very well lose the position. I'm sure you guys can restrain yourselves. All I would need would be for you all to be on Skype at least a half hour to an hour before show time. That way I can set the sound levels and do a last minute rundown. Other than that, this is the least strict radio station ever. We can pick the topics and music pretty much at will.

So what do we talk about the first night? And how many people do we include on our panel, assuming my friend comes with me to take phone calls?
I'm thinking we start it off easy, movies and tv, just to get the ball rolling and not give the listeners too much of a culture shock. It doesn't even have to be for the entire show, we could dedicate a half hour to it if we wanted. As for the participants, I think we could manage everyone at once, though we would have to practice restraint and talking in something resembling an order.

I think you should test call quality with all of us first off, to see who comes in clear enough over the radio. I think my connection could be the standard? I am very confident in NonCon's too.
If you wanted, we could do a call-in question time where people call in problems, you type the issue out to me and the others, we do a braintrust to figure out what the solution is. Video games, cheat codes, broken computers, anything to do with gadgets and gizmos. |

Whelp.
I'm probably not going to have the ability to call anything in (no skype/internet type stuff), but are you guys geeky enough to... discuss DnD?!?!?
... or, barring that, t3h PATHFINDER?!?!?!?!?!?!1!1!1!one!one!one! Hey, you've already got people making unreasonable demands that their particular niche be catered to, just like a real radio show! ... heh-heh... yeah, sorry.

Do a E3 Panel as a one-shot to see if your audience likes it and trim the edges from that into a final format.
Also, for conferences you should have 3-5 people with you. It's just a safe logic... too many people and it gets crowded and a conversation becomes noise. Too little and as soon as you hit the first slow point the show dies. also to prevent Technical Difficulties with your guests. (if you have 3 people with you and someone has trouble and logs off, you still have 2 Guests with is still enough to have a decent conversation of some length) |
