Default Toy Story 3

So I just got back from a showing, in 3D no less. I wasn't planning on the 3D, but I didn't pick the time we went and the only 2D show wasn't for another hour (And with a 9yr old in tow, sitting around for an hour was out of the question).

Just gotta say it, I cried. Like, REALLY HARD. I was that kid who still liked to play with his toys well into middle school, and even now I still like to sit down occasionally and play toys with my younger sister and cousins. So that ending? Oh my God, I was holding back the tears sooooooo hard.

Overall though a very solid title. I've typed this paragraph three times, and words elude me. I'll see what I can do about a proper write-up after sitting on it for a while.

I loved this movie. It was probably one of the best movies I've seen in a good while.

It was humorous, yet still manged to maintain a somewhat serious tone. I like how it went a bit deeper into the implications of toys being alive. The ending was great. I have never found myself at tears by reading a book or watching a movie, but this one came pretty close.

The scenes with Barbie and Ken? Those were just hilarious. I loved the letter from them in the credits.

My favorite part, at this moment, is how there were hundreds of people who went "A threequel? Are you kidding? It's going to suck. They should leave it alone." And Pixar just managed to show off that you should never underestimate them. They are simply amazing, always.

This movie not only had me cracking up on numerous occasions, but it had amazingly dark themes, with nail-biting tension at a few points. It may be a movie you can take your kids to, but it's a very deep film, I think, and designed with a much older audience in mind.

Being of that select age group who got to grow up alongside Andy, I feel like this hit especially hard. I definitely choked up in those last few minutes. I had to come home and hug the few toys I still had left in my room, and apologize to them for not playing with them more.

Here's a personal anecdote I found especially unnerving. After the movie was over, me, my little brother, and my mom started leaving, we saw something on the ground. Right next to the Exit door, was a small toy. Like something from a gum-ball machine, just laying there. We sort of paused and stared at it for a bit. After a nervous chuckle, we just went about our business and went back to the car.

I sort of regret not picking it up.

Something I found interesting was the Day & Night mini that played before the movie, which kinda came off as a forgettable anti-racist message. What struck me about it was my 9yr old sister's reaction long after the short ended; on the drive back home, out of nowhere, she said "I really liked the Day & Night ad, but I don't know what it was advertising." I'm not sure if I should be happy that she doesn't need an anti-racism lecture (She's the only caucasian girl in a traditional mexican dance group), or sad that she honestly doesn't know what racism is yet.

Also, I made this in Paint in like five minutes and the quality of the pic is kinda bad, but it honestly sums up my feelings on the movie as a whole far better than words could, and why I had such a hard time stopping the waterworks for a good half of the movie:

And yes, I've been on a Cowboy Bebop binge lately.

Just seen it today and I wondered.. whom of the generation that experienced the last 2 Toy Story films as a child, "didn't" have some sort of emotion outburst.. even a little after or during watching Toy Story 3..

Toy Story 1

Toy Story 2

I take it 3 gets a thumbs up?

Okay, I watched me clips again, and there are certainly elements that repeat themselves. Trapped by bad guy, things look bad, Woody and Buzz ride toy to save other toy or whatever. Are these elements in 3?

Oh my god.

This just wrecked me when I saw it. Pixar can simply do no wrong.

I'm still convinced that I don't think they can.

Saw it yesterday. It was pretty awesome indeed.

And holy shit that was an evil, evil bear at the end.

Also, Brian, you kinda sorta maybe got beat in Call Backs that resolves the plot. I mean, sure, they don't churn out 1200+ webcomic pages, but they did have a few years over you.

THE CLAAAAAAWWWWWW

Also also, somewhere on the internet we need to have the Guile Theme put on a scene in this movie.
