The developer was smart to try for a minimalistic approach as it would both set it apart from other games as well as save valuable processing and art times. However This is on the verge of Too minimalistic(the two minimalistic games I like to focus on are Mirrors Edge and TF2 and they both hold more texture and atmosphere then this one). Some diversity of the ground and some uniqueness of areas/walls would be better then the sheer white. Maybe having it where the color of the area semi reflects the Major force there would both help to add some uniqueness as well as help the player figure out what he is going to deal with.
the weapons thoughts are nice specializing in specific things or upgrading seems to be a hard choice. but the gun designs are rather too close to halo. almost to the point of infringement. I think they should start with whole new silhouettes and work it back down. (its also mildly confusing The Slender long looking weapon is close range? while the sniper looks like a bulky rocket launcher!)

That looks like a fantastic way to waste hours upon hours of your day right there
I could care less how Minimalistic the art style is, as long as one side is red and the other is blue and I can tell what gun i have on that is all the visual I really need

I doubt the final product will look exactly like this, Doc. Though I hope they come up with a better name than "Warsoup."
I'm reminded of Command and Conquer's ill-received Renegade, and what it might have been.

Looks... interesting, to say the least. How it actually works in game is another matter though. Also seconding the terrible name.
It doesn't look any better than this either, but then, nothing ever could.

Also, that bit at the end with the PC punching Nazis and dinos left and right was the manliest thing I've seen in weeks.

Blargh, people keep thinking that FPS + RTS is a new concept, when I played several games with that concept already! Natural Selection did it, Savage did it, Savage 2, Natural Selection 2 is doing it, and there is at least one mod for Half-life 2 that is doing it. Is it an awesome game type? Yes, but people need to stop hyping it as this new and revolutionary thing.

True, it is not revolutionary. Savage was so awesome. But it didn't stick for me, either.
So nothing within this tiny niche genre was really satisfied me yet, despite my WANTING it to satisfy me. Here's hoping this strikes home? |

What I am saying is none of this is new.
The video makes it look like they decided to steal all of the guns and most of the HUD from the Halo series, take the Call of Duty run animation and character control, and employ the base economy/development methods from Brutal Legend/Natural Selection and mush them into a game. Oh and the allied player camera from Serious Sam.
Still, it may be fun. I'll keep an eye out for a demo.

I really liked Battalion Wars 2, and that one seemed to be a mix of RTS and 3rd person shooter, I'll give this Warsoup thing a try . Yeah, you had a set number of units but it was great running a group of soldiers and playing as one of them :3
