Win 7 Security virus
I'm not familiar enough with Windows 7 to even find the registry. Does anyone know anything about this virus and would you be able to walk me through removing it?
I'm running a scan using AVG at the moment but I don't know if it will find it and these pop ups are getting annoying.

Malwarebytes, spybot search and destroy killed this one completely for me, no effort involved.
AVG didn't do diddly shit, nor did Avast. |

This, pretty much. I had the Vista version, and Malwarebytes killed it. Only hassle was that I had to change the name of the executable so the virus wouldn't block it.

I've been running a malwarebytes scan for about 2 hours - it hasn't picked up anything yet. I don't suppose I should have started it in safe mode instead?

I don't think I did. I did a full system scan, and that can take a few hours with Malwarebytes. My advice would be to give it time to run the full scan.
