A new American made anime "Monsuno"
http://www.nickandmore.com/2011/07/2...toons-in-2012/
So nickstoons has this new American original Anime "Monsuno" set to air this Feburary in the US with plans for a global release later that year. The show is about young boys (and 1 girl) on an epic adventure who command powerful monsters called "Monsuno" in a battle against an evil organization bent on destroying the earth. Both the creators and Nicktoons expect this show to be the next big thing for boys everywhere. With a toy line already on it's way and new TCG based off of the show. I know what you all are thinking, and yes... this is another digimon-style monster breeder anime (they even have digivice like devices to contorl their Monsuno with). In it's defense, it's geared towards kids age 6 to 11 (for the time being). So it's gonna be cheezy, really cheezy. BUT dispite the animation seeming a bit off (if Avatar is any indication, that will improve with each new season) I'm actually looking forward to this. Will I make episode summaries of it? No because I'm a lazy bastard when it comes to doing nonart stuff that's not owned by me. (sorry) And well lack of readership is what led me to let the Voltron thread die a lonely death. (You made me do it NPF!) To me it looks kinda cool. I've seen the commercials for it and I have to say I'm already feeling like a hyper-active kid again. I actually really want to this to be the spirtual successor to digimon and monster rancher. This might be the final thing to make me go to bed on time for a change. The show is set for 52, 30 min episodes. But seeing as this is nicktoons it could gain another 50+ if it really does become the next pokemon/digimon/monster rancher/bakugan. Speaking of Bakugan, I wonder if that game is still kicking...

Do you have any articles that don't boil down to "Kids are stupid; they're gonna buy the hell outta this?" 'Cause it's hard to get excited about this on the word of a few CEOs and Executive Vice Presidents who've never watched a cartoon in their lives.
And Bakugan is so still a thing.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsuno This is an entirely new property that from what I learned is meant to promote the toy line and game. Much like transformers and pokemon. So there is really not much info.

Well, uh, yeah. Still getting a "the kids like the animays these days; do that" vibe. Like, we've got the same stable of actors they have dubbing every anime into English, and they're all phoning it in big time. The lip flap is intentionally bad to make it more Japanese (I mention this because Avatar didn't do this). No one says anything about the concept beyond "Japanese battle monsters isn't this cool?"
I mean, Nick does stuff like Generator Rex, which is obviously inspired by the Chinese girl-cartoons, and that's decent. This is just... well, let me know. Like, if an identical show were airing in Japan, I'd skip it. It's not a "it's not anime" thing for me, it's a "this sure looks uninspired" thing. Smile Precure looks like it had more care put into making it, and it's a show with a cast of cliches made to peddle plastic makeup compacts to little girls.

...This is almost shamelessly awful, and has the same feel of walking in on someone watching 5DS and just observing for 5 minutes. Same awkward lines, bad animation and general lazy development.
Also in that interview he called the show Epic, and I'm offended on behalf of the entire english language for the misuse. |

So we are clear

It seems, low rent, definitely wouldn't call it high quality but I have seen other things of this quality do decently ratings wise. For me whats off putting is the voice acting. Its like 80's anime dubbing. Then after taking a look at the studios prior works they seem more the type to try exploit fads then put in any real effort. Even if the creator had something solid, I'm not holding out hope.
to be fair its been a very long time since people started using epic incorrectly. Forgetting that "really freakin long" is a prerequisite.

This show wouldn't qualify even for the brain-achingly incorrect use of epic.

It's time for a Monsuno!
Whelp Monsuno is on and the time has come to see just if it's good or not.
I'll post a summary once the 1 hour special is over. EDIT BREAK 1: Well so far it's alright, Chase is searching for his dad his a lead research on Monsunos. The creature the live alongs them. He and his friends arive at his dad lap to find that no one is there. Expect for a man who claims to be an ex-employ of his father. The man tells Chase and his pals Jinja and Bren, that his dad is missing but assures him that he's probably fine. HE then tells chase of something his dad left behind. A powerful Monsuno that is lock away inside a safe in the lab. EDIT BREAK 2: So after opening the safe that only he can open. Millions of Storm Corp soilder show up and start causeing trouble. they demand he hands over the Core Tech and not to spin it. SO Chase does what any young would do. He spins and summons his Monsuno Lock. After fleeing from the lab leaving Lock to kick the crap out of the Storm Soilder. Later that day, Chase and his pals are fleeing through the jungle. They stop to rest when all of a sudden Lock comes chargin towards the our heroes. Freaked the fuck out by a giant freaking Polar Bear. Chase and co sprint through the forest when Lock jumps infornt of them. Just when Chase thinks he's going to eat him. Lock drops something down at Chase's feet. It was Lock's core (a.k.a his getto Pokeball lol). He then pciks up Chase and throws him onto his back. (aww Lock's so cute!! X3) Later Chase and his friends are resting infront of a camp fire. Jinja and Bren fight over a Tablet they found in the lap while Chase worries about Lock who's been breathing heavily ever since his earlier battle. Fed up with their fighting, Chase tells Bren to let Jinja take a look at the tablet since she's and expert at that kind of thing. Jinja examins the tablet and manges to get it working but it OS seems to be encripted. Bren smiles and snatches the tablet from Jinja, stating the programing and hacking his specialty. He uncripts the tablet reveiling a message from Dr.Charity Suno, Chase's dad.

Okay so far this is pretty damn awesome XD. I hate Bren and his voice and everything that is Bren. Though his Monsuno, "Quick Force" is pretty neat.
But aside from that it's not bad, not bad at all. I give the first ep a 7.9/10, it introduces the characters, explains the plot a bit, is action packed and has some fun little gags here and there. There also seems to be two factions after our heroes. The first is Storm, and organization bent on contorling the Monsuno R&D. And another mysterious group that will probably appear pretty soon. Also this is like Pokemon meets Digimon.
