Default Why has no one talked about CISPA?

Link

Passing quickly

Here's what you need to know about CISPA. It's worse than SOPA. The fact is, the government is taking your data and using it in whatever way they see fit. The government does not have to go after you, just your email, your twitter account, and a number of other sneaky ways of regulating businesses to find ways to identify all of the information about you and paint a picture of who you are. The 4th Amendment won't exist should CISPA pass or SECURE IT.

These bills basically make you everything a cyber security threat and you are the target for very broad and over reaching statutes of law used to throw you in jail. That's what's so worrying about these 13 pages. It should not be passed but it currently has 100 co-sponsors and may just be passed now.

Amendments to the bill

Is there a link to the bill itself? It'd be nice to look through it more.

It's a shame bipartisanship went so wrong with this.

More specifically, the House of Representatives did--and the House'll pass any old shit, especially in an election year. However, I see nothing about this reaching the Senate, or if it's already been through the Senate (which I haven't heard anything about), the President's desk. So for what little it's worth, I'm pretty sure this isn't the end of the matter.

From what I've heard, some are expecting the matter to resolve itself. Republicans forced it though Congress, in a very partisan manner. So much so, that I've heard it's supposed to be DOA when it hits the Senate. Plus, I remember hearing Obama threaten to veto it.

Now I am still apprehensive, but it might just work out. Plus, I really doubt the Senate really wants to ire the Internet irresponsibly prior to an election.

I doubt the Senate actually cares about pissing off the internet--after all, most of the people on it are not hideously wealthy plutocrats. That said, since (as I recall) they have marginally better job security, they're slightly less likely to rubberstamp this right through in order to be able to claim to their constituents that yes, they officially support protecting innocent American babies from having porn bombs Googled at them by pedoterrorists on the 4chans, thus scarring and corrupting their purity forever and turning them into hacking virus troll pirates who watch the Japanimations.

You have 4 bills fighting for prevalence in the Senate. There is a CISPA bill, but you also have the DoJ and NSA fighting to see who's going to control the information. Also, the FBI already has been doing this type of sharing for the past 15 years. So making a new law for cybersecurity doesn't help anyone here. Unless they're trying to push through something even worse than child pornography...
