"Discovery Channel" or "Watch Bear Grylls Eat Beetle Larvae!"
Seriously - does anyone watch that show because they need survival tips if their plane goes down over the Sahara? No! They watch it to see Bear Grylls eat squirty beetle larvae.
So while I like Discovery Channel when I decide to actually watch TV instead of download it off of iTunes. Or stream it via Netflix. Or pirate it illegally. But it seems that while it's something interesting to tune into while your channel flipping and then you stop because holy shit, ants: They've always tried to keep viewers via... explosions. And questions about explosions: Now they've got a new show: Never Ever Try This At Home. Which cuts out the questions in favor of more explosions. But as Milhouse says "The warning at the beginning only made me want to try it more!" So why can't we go back to the good old days of.... taking riot control to the face: Was Discovery Channel anything other than "let's do crazy shit and call it TV?" I'm with you Magus. At least he was legitimatelly alone. And also I admit... Deadliest Catch is one of the most interesting shows I've ever come across.
Hell, when I was younger, one of my favorite things to watch on that channel... Wild Discovery.

Mythbusters Man Vs. Wild Guinea Pigs Deadliest Catch Deadliest Weapon Dirty Jobs I'd mention Holmes on Homes or Deadliest Warrior, but they belong to HGTV and Spike respectively. |
