Comics Comixology giving away free comics this summer

Comixology is a digital comics retailer, delivering thousands of comics to your mobile device(Or PC if you still have one of those archaic machines) at reasoneable prices and bundled with the Guided View, a panel-by-panel, scene-by-scene narration that helps you enjoy comics in a unique way in the smaller screens.

They also feature an array of Free Comics, if you're unsure about spending your dear money on drawings and also random Sales, essentially making it Steam for Comics and being the cause of me buying over 300 comics this year.

Now that the introductions are over, for the next two weeks Comixology will be giving away free comics! While the past few choices were a bit crummy, today's it's Lumberjanes #1!

Quote:
Jo, April, Mal, Molly and Ripley are five best pals determined to have an awesome summer together...and they're not gonna let any insane quest or an array of supernatural critters get in their way! Not only is it the second title launching in our new BOOM! Box imprint but LUMBERJANES is one of those punk rock, love-everything-about-it stories that appeals to fans of basically all excellent things.
I'll also be using this thread to talk about the current sales(Buy some Transmet btw) and whatever other event they have scheduled so stay tuned.

Today's treat is the Werewolves of Montpellier by comic artist Jason, author of I Killed Adolf Hitler and Hey, Wait...

Quote:
Named to NPR, Las Vegas Weekly, Graphic Novel Reporter, The Casual Optimist, Comic Book Resources, Attentiondeficitdisorderly, Hypergeek, and Robot 6's Best of 2010 lists. Sven, a semi-aimless Scandinavian artist who has ended up in Montpellier, France on a futile romantic pursuit, enjoys nocturnal raids into other people's homes, disguised as a werewolf.

Today's freebie is Archer & Armstrong : Archer #0, which I frankly know nothing about, I never even read Valiant before.

Quote:
Once upon a time...a baby went into Project Rising Spirit...

Who is Obadiah Archer, where did he come from, and how can he do the incredible things that he can do? (Which is everything, remember?) Fresh off the shocking conclusion of the Sect Civil War, learn the startling truth behind Archer's origin with an exciting look into his secret past by Valiant superstar Fred Van Lente and fan favorite artist Pere Perez!
Also, the Farscape comic series is on sale, though I never watched the TV series so I wouldn't know what it's about or why this guy is wearing a gimp suit

Archer & Armstrong is a balls-to-the-wall laughfest, a hilarious political and social satire of American culture and conspiracy theories. Dinosaurs, aliens (both ancient and futuristic), Area 51, the Freemasons, time travel, alternate dimensions, immortals, the Epic of Gilgamesh, it's got it all.

Unfortunately, Archer & Armstrong: Archer #0 is the worst place to start for basically anyone getting into it. It's not funny and deals with the (sad) backstory of Obadiah Archer. The regular Archer & Armstrong #0 would have been a way better offering by Valiant to get people reading A&A.

The Gimp suit guy is Scorpius.

Hey thanks a lot, that looks like an interesting series!

Today's gift is Gravel: Combat Magician #0 which once again I know nothing about(shame on me) except that it's written by Warren Ellis, british extraordinaire author of such gems as Transmetropolitan(still on sale), the hilarious Nextwave and the webcomic Freakangels, among others, so this might be worth all that invisible money.

Quote:
Gravel returns with a super-size launch issue and an all-new monthly series! Mike Wolfer has worked on every issue of Gravel to date, and he's back to his black magic ways, joined by artist Gabriel Rearte who is conjuring stunning pages! This #0 is a perfect starting place for new readers, with a self-contained story and a huge what-has-come-before summary of all the previous Gravel issues. After dismantling the aristocratic, magical hierarchy of England and surviving a war against a blood-thirsty serial killer, William Gravel disappeared. But even a man who can walk through walls cannot escape Combat Magic-fueled assassins. And he's not happy about it. Written by long-time Warren Ellis collaborator MIKE WOLFER, GRAVEL: COMBAT MAGICIAN presents a fresh starting point for new readers to enter the world of ultra-violent black magic.

This is the point at which we're all supposed to pretend that professional wrestling has some artistic value or merit.

Today's gift is Lola XOXO which despite the neat cover and Xs on the title is not a adult title.

Quote:
In the "Wasteland", Lola, a young woman with a resolve fortified by a lifetime of survival on her own, must journey across the nuclear-decimated United States in order to find the family that was taken from her! As her quest for the truth begins, Lola uncovers the true inhumanity of the Apocalypse, as those who seek to hold power in a new frontier, will do so at all bloody costs-including her life!
EXTRAS!

All IDW Ghostbusters comics are on sale and I'd like the opinion of someone who tried them as I can't quite grasp the cronology here

anyway:

Quote:
Are you troubled by strange noises in the middle of the night? Do you experience feelings of dread in your basement or attic? Have you or any of your family ever seen a spook, specter, or ghost? If the answer is yes, call the professionals! Psychokinetic energy is on the rise again, business is booming for the boys, and Ray is troubled by what could be a prophetic dream. Is this an ill omen of an upcoming apocaplypse, or just a little indigestion?

Quote:
The Ghostbusters are gone, spirited away by some dastardly demons from another dimension! But spectral shenanigans haven't ceased in the city that never sleeps, meaning a new group will need to step up and don the proton packs. Will the New Ghostbusters be able to rescue their predecessors, or will they share the same fate?
And the Fathom comics, in case you enjoy swimming but thought Free! didn't have enough TnA:

Quote:
Aspen Matthews is an ex-Olympic, swimmer, marine biologists, and a girl with a past shrouded in mystery. Age eleven, she was found on a cruise ship, with no memory of who she was, or how she got there. Now, as the crew of the top secret US military Deep Marine Discovery platform encounters a strange, alien craft, something is stirring at the back of Aspen's mind, flashes of her earlier life... A life beneath the waves!

Today's gift featuring the Silver Surfer! Catch the first comic of the current series and get yourself some space adventuring!

Quote:
"NEW DAWN". The universe is big. Bigger than you could ever imagine. And the SILVER SURFER, the lone sentinel of the skyways, is about to discover that the best way to see it... is with someone else. Meet the Earth Girl who's challenged the Surfer to go beyond the boundaries of the known Marvel U-- into the strange, the new, and the utterly fantastic!
Extras!

The site has sales on the Street Fighter(By UDON) and Runaways(all 3 Volumes) going on right now! Runaways first volume is pretty good and I'd check the SF series, it ain't just a lame tie-in.

Quote:
Enter the world of STREET FIGHTER, where fighters of every size, shape and color collide in a global battle for supremacy! In ROUND ONE, FIGHT! The stoic Ryu and his hot-headed pal Ken set out to investigate the murder of their martial arts master. Their search leads them to Japan and encounters with Street Fighter mastermind M. Bison and his minions Cammy, Vega and Sagat -- plus Chun-Li, Guile and more! These action-packed pages bring the world of Street Fighter to life -- every pulse-pounding Shoryuken and bone-crushing Sonic Boom!

Quote:
When six friends discover their parents are all secretly super-villains, they run away from home and straight into the adventure of their lives -- vowing to turn the tables on their evil legacy.

I'm really hoping that they give away some Rat Queens this summer. I've been meaning to get a hold of it for a while now.

Extras!

For even more TnA, the Vampirella series in on sale!

Quote:
Toyo Harada, CEO of Harada Global Conglomerates and the most potent known psionic in the world, has a vision for the perfect future. A vision he will realize with or without the consent of the rest of humanity. In order to achieve it, he's built a private army of super-powered hyper-telekinetics within the Harbinger Foundation. But who was Harada before he became the world's most powerful man? And what are the origins of his vast ambitions?
