Making 8-bit comics
1.) Is it hard?
2.) What programs do we need to do so? 3.) Are they free? 4.) Would anyone be kind enough to link them if they are free? 5.) How long does it take to make an 8-bit comic? Thanks |

1. all depends on what your going for.
2. A lot of people use MSPaint, but from my experience in spriting that is the lazy way to do things. Look for something good to use for spriting, like the link in my sig. Graphics Gale is good for altering sprites/making sprites from scratch. Photoshop and/or Adobe Illustrator can be used for page layouts(among thousands of other things)..if you can shell out the money to buy them. 3. Read number 2. 4. read number 2. 5. A quality one can take anywhere from a few minutes, if you have everything planned out, to days or weeks. All depends on that quality your going for. |

Yes, paint will get the job done, but if you realy want a nice job, there are better programs. I can make a comic in an out a half hour if i take my time.

Paint Shop Pro is rather good for building pages/strips and resizing sprites and is, in my opinion, much easier to use than Photoshop. It absolutely blows for inserting text and that nifty outline effect Brian is so fond of, though; there you're indeed better off with Photoshop.
I rarely ever make comics (the occasional guest comic entry...), but when I do, I use those two programs as described above. |

But why make an 8-bit comic. Try making a 16 bit comic for a change. Or draw one.

I'd draw mine, only one issue, no scanner. Some other people don't have scanners either, so people really need to stop bashing people who don't draw their comics...

16-bit, like SNES graphics. Drawing would be fun but some people cant even draw crap, like me. So I just stick to books that I can write.

You can write all you like, but it's much harder for some people to admit they can't write.
Not pointing any fingers. Seriously. I barely even know you guys. [edit: and it's even harder to recognize that you can't write. some people just need to go back to the basics, you know?]

I'm not saying I can write well, I'm just saying that I can write better then I can draw. My writing sucks as well.

I have no drawing skill at all so drawing is out. I do write as seen on the board and I though making comics would be fun and such.
Also if anyone could link where I can find background it would be much obliged |
