Akira: 6Books vrs. 1Movie
I first got into Akira by watching the movie. After that I got hooked, then I bought the first 4 books of the 6 part set. After just reading the first book I found out it covers more than 1/3 of the movie. With way more seens. I know the book is usally better than the movie, since in a movie you cant have the full plot line and every little seen, but just after reading the 4 first books I find that the orginal story is way longer and better than the movie.
Also found out major differences I couldn't even begin to describe, but lets say, in my view, that the movie is only 1/8th the story. I just got books 5 and 6 and I suggest if you liked the movie you should read the books. Even though each book is $20-30, I think its worth it. Anyone read all 6? Hate Free Zone

No, but I;ve read about half the series. 1, 4, 5, and 6.
Personally, I would've loved to see the Great Tokyo Empire in the movie, but I suppose you can't have everything. And they DID do a good job of turning a 6-volume series into a two-hour movie.
