Aeris from FF7 (major spoilers herein)
For some time, Aeris was one of my most used characters in FF7, When she died at the end of Disk 1, I was soooooooo heart broken. I understand that it was for the good of the story but still....
Now getting to my question, I read that after Aeris's death, a special event could be opened called Aeris's ghost. Supposedly you had to go to the church in sector 5 and then the kids will run off saying that they had seen a ghost. The ghost turns out to be Aeris and theres a short cutscene with Cloud promising he would get Seperoth for killing her. I never been able to unlock it, so can anyone tell me if this is really a hoax? I really do believe that there may be some hidden way to bring Aeris back to life because if there wasn't, whats the point with her Level 4 limit break? There would be no real use for it if the player couldn't use it.

There is no way to bring her back. Once she's dead, she's dead. Although, there are plenty of rumors (almost all of which have been proven false) saying that she can be raised from the dead. However, there is a way to see her ghost in the church at one point.
The point of her lvl 4 limit is to get it quickly and use it on the first disk. It's a ridiculously beneficial spell that is really useful in the beginning, which is why you can get it so much faster than the others'.

As Bob said, there is a point where you CAN see her ghost, but that's it. You find her in the church in Disc 3, but she disappears as you get close. No little cutscene or anything.
And I repeat what Bob said. There is NO way to bring Aeris back.

Not to mention that if you've ever used any of her limit breaks past the first three you'd understand why she wouldn't be alive for the fight with Sephiroth. There's no challenge left once you have them.

I know it's about the most well-known scene in modern video gaming, but nonetheless those spoiler/blackout tags are a useful thing. I put up a spoiler warning in the title, but you know for the future. Mostly you, Shoraru.

Yeah. I spent a good 10-15 hours of game time trying to uncover various Aeris rumours. I won't name specifics here, because I'm too lazy to make spoiler tags, but all turned up as nadda.
I have seen her ghost, though, and it does disappear as you get close. After that, I'm pretty sure it leaves forever. (Or it'll be there again, but it disappears even faster each time). But eh? You can even GET her limit break item in the first disc? I thought you needed more advanced modes of transportation only availible in later discs? Either way, you don't even NEED her higher limit breaks, nothing is challenging enough to present a problem in the first disc anyway. |

It takes time, but yes you can. Limit breaks are gained by two methods, killing enemies and using breaks.
The more you use your first break of a particular level, the sooner the next one of that level is unlocked. The more things you kill, the sooner you get the next level up of breaks. This is why your main damage dealer is more apt to gain limit breaks faster.

That's not what I meant. I'm well aware of how you gained limit breaks. But the level 4 limit breaks always needed items along with them. Been so long since I played FF7 that far in, but the Omnislash item needed a high score from the battle square, etc etc (That's all I can recall at the moment :P).
Did Aeris' level 4 limit come naturally? Wasn't the item found in an inaccessible place in the first disc? |

From an this FAQ on gamefaqs (note: The Great Gospel Manuel is the item needed for her limit break):

Sorry about not adding the spoiler tag.
Moving on to a question about the limit breaks. You said that for a chacter to gain limit breaks they needed to use them repeatedly in battles. Well my Barret the 3rd play through skipped Mind blow (The second Limit break 1) and moved on to the 2nd limit break section Grenade blast or something like that. Can anyone tell me why?
