Final Fantasy Snowboarding
Looks like some people are starting their April Fool's jokes a few weeks early this year to avoid the mad rush:
http://www.rpgamer.com/games/ff/ff7snow/ff7snow.html ...why do these April Fool's jokes always involve Final Fantasy and/or Chrono games? Are we that bloody gullible?

Uh...with the recent slew of FFVII Cel phone games, sequels and money-maker 'sequels'...I doubt this is actually a April Fools joke.
And in fact, the concept of this game for a cel phone is probably the most interesting of any of the now what 6 Spin-off FFVII ideas. Cuz the snowboarding thing was actually one of my favorite parts of FFVII.

1. Would a genuine FF7 spinoff game, even one for a cellphone, use the exact same PSOne graphics as the original title? 2. Look at the release date and area. Why would SE release an FF game for cellphones in North America when we really have no standardization as far as screen size, operating systems, system specs, etc. the way they have in Japan? At this point there are far too many cooks in the cellphone kitchen to make video game releases feasable. And we certainly wouldn't be released in the US prior to release in Japan. 3. RPGamer's April Fool's jokes tend to be grandious items such as this which never see the light of day on other legitimate video game websites. 4. If SE did plan something like this, I'm sure it would not have Cloud Strife in it- think "Chocobo Snowboarding" or "Moogle Snowboarding", etc.

This is not such a bad idea anyway. I mean...you could use our "high tect" phones to do some of the mini games here. Do remember that perhaps they are being kind to use since japan gets 75% of the games we wish to import to play at all.
I say rumor for now...maybe wrong thing? How about for DS? Mini games for all. XD

1. There are cel phone games being released in America. King of Fighters games I saw just last week a Fry's for use on Nokia phones.
2. Cloud Strife on a snowboard probably would happen if they were making an original game, but if they're simply porting the Snowboard mini-game from FFVII, then they might as well keep it at just Cloud (or add more characters) to keep programing simple and make money intake raise for almost no work. Hey, Nintendo is doing it with its classic NES series on the GBA. 3. Its a month till April fools... 4. But do remember that's RPGamer and they post just abot everything they hear, rumor or fact. It could be a rumor or it could simply just be being released for Japan. Then again with Square's recent sequel-happy flow of FFVII games in development, I say it has a bit more of a chance.

That snowboard game was pretty fun to play, but I would love to see the submarine minigame for a cell phone. Then I might actually seriously consider buying one just so I could play the minigame, lol. Althoughl, releasing all these silly minigames that always pop up in games for cell phones would be neat. I hope it isn't just a werid joke

I think it's real, but in one of those "Jesus christ they can't be serious" ways. Thta's why I can see Solid's sudden "April Fools Come Early!" retort.
I frankly cant believe Squaresoft would turn so shallow as to go "Here's a seven year old game's mini-game now a complete realease YOU HAVE TO BUY! For your cell phone!" HOWEVER given the sketchy details nobody should even think of this as serious until we get a good look at it.

Its true its true. From the mouth of Tips and Tricks
"The publisher of the Final Fantasy series, Square Enix has taken an interesting approach by releasing complementary console and phone based games at the same time. it is also sated that this is the 1st time the company is "releasing a title in the United States before Japan." Nothing about Snowboarding but Myth Busted on United States 1st and Square Enix. YAY!
