Star Wars: A New Roleplay
SIGN UPS CLOSED Turn out was much better than I expected. Anyone expressing further interest shall be informed if spots open. Thank you for your patronage. Yes, a Star Wars RP. We're going to be set in the age of the Old Republic, a time of high adventure when the force moved freely. I will, however, be ignoring any and all canonical events, mostly because that way I don't have to try to read up on a bunch of Star Wars history or worry about ruining any of it. So don't be expecting Mandalore to be struck down by Revan, Rakitan Star Forges, Jedi Exiles, or whatever other thing apparently happened then that I can't be bothered to trawl wookiepedia for. DO expect Sith Empires in the unknown regions, verpine engineering, jedi enclaves, hutt crime lords, and other main stays of Star Wars and the time period, however. Especially the crime lords bit. The story shall revolve around the crew of a newly acquired retrofitted sprint-class rescue ship. By retrofitted I mean that your captain (to be decided) purchased it from the interstellar version of a used car shop on the cheap. Its medical bays have been removed, and the interior re-fitted as a smuggling vessel, with the top notch hyperdrive and sublight drives both removed and replaced with slower versions. The RP will start with your first mission after acquiring your new ship. For the sign up I've been working on a play by post RP system that I've had looked over by a couple of people, one or two who knew what they're doing with RP systems, and one or two who didn't afterward, to check for balance issues and readability. We'll be using that system with a few alterations to make it work with the star wars universe. A few things that aren't mentioned in the text files on races: I'm not going to rebalance the system to add ten million SW races, therefore all races are functionally the same because I'm lazy. The exception is droids. Droids vary in a couple of ways: First off most droids have obedience chips installed in them, which means that while players of meatbags obey the captain out of loyalty or whatever else, droids literally must obey the captain unless they can get someone to remove their obedience chip--or the captain decides they're the type to remove their droids obedience chips for fun. Further, droids are affected by ion blasters and grenades and what not much more harshly than meatbags are. They also require a crew member with "Craft: Robotics" to repair them if they take damage. However, as a trade off droids get 5 extra skill points, and "Craft: Robotics" can be used to 'resurrect' a droid so long as its memory chip remains undamaged, or a back up is kept. The same can not be said for meatbags. Oh, and one thing: You'll notice there aren't rules for Jedi. That's because I'm not allowing player creation of Jedi characters at this time. That said, I've attached the rules, if you have any questions on them feel free to ask, and if you need help making a character, feel free to ask for that, as well. EDIT: If you guys do something and it gets you killed, I will let you die. I won't fudge the dice to keep anyone alive. Also, if there's a situation where the RP NEEDS a response from you and it is taking too long, I will probably make you respond. Combat is an immediate thought that comes to mind. Thanks to the 'your entire team goes at once' method, however, it should be a rare situation when I have to do that. Other situations might exist where your character's response is needed before the rest of the team can move on, and again, I may hijack a character for a post just to keep a game from dying. Further, there were/will be random rolls to decide whether characters have force sensitivity. Ergo the 'at this time' line about the jedi.

Double post because the forums only allow five uploads and don't like .rar files.

Not bad.

I love KOTOR so I am in. Give me some time to make a suitable character (New Years celebration and what not). But I am thinking about being a pilot.

I'd be game for this Krylo. Since the FF d6 is moving at a slowish pace I should have time for this. I hope.

I'm working on a character sheet right now. I'm warning you, I have never played in a stats system like this before; I'm probably going to screw something up. Just so you know.

I'm confused about Evasion. EVA is listed in the stats page as RES + 5 + Dodge rating, but RES is not mentioned in the stats section or anywhere from what I see at the moment...

Ah, RES was an earlier name for RFX I forgot to change. Woops.
Edit: Also the system was originally designed for a fantasy setting. I tried to remove most of the references to 'magic', if I left any in either ignore them or pretend they say force. Like MGR is for resisting force powers, primarily, not magic because it's not the same we all know that.

Name: Douglas Bach
Age: 32 Appearance: Human with muscular and tall stout build, skin heavily tanned due to exposure to heat and sun. Dark brown slightly curly and messy hair. Slightly yellowish/hazel tinted eyes. A few minor burn marks and scars can be seen on his arm, back and chest, but very faint due to natural healing over time. History: A battle harden soldier raised to obedience to his superiors. Douglas rose up in the ranks due to his skill, trustworthiness in following orders as well as in the extra care he takes in ensuring the safety of his comrades. The rigors of prolonged battle however has taken its toll on Douglas' mind, as he gradually started to justify risky missions based on some sort of karmic doom or fate assigned to him. Feeling tainted by the blood of those dead by his destructive hands, Douglas' humanity and focus has started to sway much to the notice of his superiors whom put the soldier on undetermined period of leave without pay. Taking this status as effectively meaning fired without ceremony or disgrace, Douglas sought out new work to earn his keep. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stats: You have 20 points to distribute. 3 is average, 5 is max at first level. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5 STR: Physical strength. Forms the basis for attack power. 4 VIT: Physical vitality. Determines HP growth and physical defense power. 5 RFX: Reflexes. Determines various speed related things. 4 INT: Intelligence. Affects spells and skills. 1 WIL: Willpower. Determines ability to hold concentration and MGR. 1 CHA: Force of personality. Not necessarily physical attractiveness. Affects how people react to you. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Combat -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HP: 4 x 5 + [(4 + 5) x level] = 29 ATP: Physical attack power. Equal to STR (RFX on some weapons) plus weapon power. = 10 ACC: Accuracy with your equipped weapon. Equal to weapon skill plus special effects (if any) = 7 (2 from Weapon Focus, 5 Weapon Skill) DFP: Physical defense power. Equal to any equipment bonuses. = 10 (Heavy Armor) MGR: Magic resistance. Equal to WIL plus any equipment bonuses. = 1 EVA: Evasion Rate. Equal to RFX plus ten plus dodge skill. = 20 (5 dodge) GRAPPLE RESIST: Your ability to resist opponent's attempts to grapple you. Equal to STR + BRAWL + 10 = 15 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Equipment: 0 Credits Remaining -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Main Hand: Tier 1 Repeating Blaster (Two handed?) Off Hand: Body: Heavy Armor -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Skills: INT (4) + 20 to start. Heavy Weapon: 5 Massive Armor: 4 Dodge: 5 Athletics: 5 Investigation: 4 Craft (Defensive Engineering): 1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Abilities-Active Marksman--This ability may be used to shoot an opponents weapon before they can strike you with it. You suffer a -2 to your ACC, but if the attack succeeds you disarm your opponent, and may destroy their weapon and cause other effects depending on what they were wielding. This ability is only useable with non-thrown ranged weapons. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Abilities-Passive Weapon Focus (Repeating Blaster): The character choses a weapon type. That type of weapon gains a +2 bonus to ACC with that weapon type. This may be taken multiple times, each time for a different weapon type. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last edited by Menarker; 01-01-2010 at 01:06 AM. |
