Dragon Age is lagging, I dont know why
Let me be abit more exact. It mostly lags, not when I'm doing something, but when the camera moves. Even during cut-scenes any time it moves it becomes very choppy. I meet all the system requirements and my video card even meets the recommended system specs. I dont get why it is so choppy when I try to do nothing beyond rotating the camera

And your specs are...?
Latest video drivers would be a must. Also make sure Dragon Age is latest patch. |

1gig RAM, windows XP, dual core 3.0GHz processor, ATI Radeon HD 3850 512MB video card
Does it auto-patch or is there like a site I have to go to?

Just saying this, but you can always try more RAM. Most people have 2 Gigs at this point. If nothing else, you'll have extra memory for when things chug elsewhere.

If you bought it off Steam then it should auto-patch. If not, you can go here to get the latest patch for Dragon Age. Not sure if you need an account or not. But if you do get one, then add me ("Jerret"). :p Also I do not know much about ATI video cards but this here seems like the most up to date page for video driver download. If not the general search site is here. |

well I did both and dropped graphic detail to its minimum, it lessened the choppiness but its still there. The first rendered cut-scene was more like a slide show then animation

Lowest resolution too? Resolution is the biggest factor. It does sound like your video card is struggling, because moving camera = loading lots of textures.

Yeah, meeting just one of the recommended specs and then just minimum on the others is usually a bad sign. My money's on RAM.

ok, also reduced screen resolution and its alot better, its still incredibly laggy, takes forever to load anything, and have to occasionally deal with stuttering but other then that only problem is unwatchable cutscenes that still appear as slide shows

It's almost certainly a memory issue your graphics card should be fine for the job. easiest way to confirm when your playing does your hard drive constantly have activity? it's a sign that it's writing to and from swap files.
