Default Pokemon Umbral Discussion 20: Now With New Discussion Thread Smell!

Man, and I thought my DSS and RPS were pretty complex.

I'll get to posting in the RP thread. Then hopefully I can finish everything I need to put into the database tonight in which I'll then edit this post.

Oh, and have I missed everything that I need to address? The smell of this new discussion thread has fried my short term memory.

Nice. Humans! Many, many humans. Not, in fact, any trainers. And few pokebrids. This is a good thing.
...
(I am going to corrupt them, but don't tell anyone, it is a secret!)

And what's all this talk about Pierce's aspirations to world domination? The only ubervillain in this RP is Impact! Pierce is the anime-style, exuberant, thinks-he's-badass-but-actually-isn't hero.
...
And besides, even if Pierce was motivated, it'd be Drac vs. Me.
Y'know. The guy who acts like a frat boy vs. the guy who acts like a drunk James Bond villain, only alcohol actually increases his mental capacity and he also has no intention of killing enemies with anything other than a bullet to the head. No easily-escapable deathtrap for you, Mr. Pierce.
This isn't meant to be an insult, just a statement of fact. If Drac- if anyone makes a move towards world-domination, they will not only be unsucessful, they will regret ever making said move. Regret it severely.
And that counts IRL too, just live your lives normally and wait for the day your country is anihilated by my giant orbital death-ray, in a bid to make the world's governments think that I'm trying to extort them for trillions of dollars, while I'm actually just conducting an elaborate social experiment, to reorganize the structure of human society and try to make humanity selfless. Because then I can be a horrible, amoral monster and a hero at the same time!
...
What was I saying?

And could someone remind me what the sniper specialty does? I'd look for it myself, but my internet connection. is rather slow.

Edit: Oh, and what should happen now? Do we just talk to all the recruits? Introduce ourselves?

AB will probably edit that into the first post when the database is finished.

What I'm curious to know is how many slots are there per team, since there are quite a few.

And gee, that Muay Thai martial artist seems a bit out of place... Kinda like that Hercules (Mr.Satan) dude compared to the rest of the DBZ cast. I mean, sure fighting damage perhaps, but in a setting with pokemons that fire lazers, snipers, and psychics that can fling your body like a rag doll? Ah well, I imagine more details will be explained in due time.

As for my questions from the last thread that didn't get answered...

All classes now have another ability called Prime. You forfeit your action and double the amount of Rage generated by attacks recieved on that turn.
What about multi-hit attacks like Double Kick, Fire Spin and all that? Do they trigger the rage gain for each hit or for a single move?

Do they still automatically trigger it when they get knocked out or is that removed?

Technically Pierce is sleeping the booze off. But if he was there he would totally say he's not aiming for world domination.

And he isn't. Yet.

Y'know, I just did a quick headcount, and the total number of trainers (that is, pure trainers and Battle Masters) is the same as both Slayers and Pokebrids (Pokebrids and Legion Mages).

So yeah.

Bond villains, no matter what intentions they have, always lose. Because they say something retarded like "And now you die, Mr. Bond". It doesn't matter whether or not they want to: they can't help themselves. So if you're a Bond villain, you're going to lose.

Also, Pierce has Enmakki. And Enmakki is evil mastermind enough for both of them. An evil mastermind who wants Impact grow into a big bad for Pierce to defeat, or an evil tyrant for Pierce to overthrow.

An evil mastermind who can fuck people's dreams without them knowing, who will never show any indication of being an evil mastermind to anyone except Pierce, and who can't be stopped by Impact's mind control. Why doesn't Enmakki aim to make himself evil tyrant? For one, Pierce is human, so it'd be easier for him to gain support. For another, why should Enmakki bother himself with the day-to-day tediousness of running the world when he can just corrupt some poor fool into doing it for him?

EDIT:

Oh, that's right... there was that rather delayed leadership voting (in character) and no one was actually voted to replace or co-leader with Renny.

Mind you, the data probably would end up ending to Impact anyhow, but in character, it would seem odd that someone who wasn't designated leader would be getting the data.

I believe we all agreed under the table that Impact isn't going to be leader yet, anyway.

EDIT: Really, Impact shouldn't be getting more power than the rest of the PCs until he gets the leadership position.

We don't want him to go crazy with power too soon.

EDIT EDIT: I think hungover Pierce may actually be dumber than drunk Pierce.

AB: It's our 20th Thread. A milestone of sorts! Where are the sexy pics?

AB: For the purpose of creating a Signature Technique or Co-op move, could you perhaps give a few sample moves and list the costs that would come with it? So we can get an idea of what certain abilities incur as costs?

Also got two idea of Co-op Technique involving Renny and Togekiss. According to AB, the technique can be used even if that pokemon isn't actually summoned on the field since it's the Trainer that's originating its power with the help of the pokemon's presence. It's still tentative though. I got to consider new custom items as well for leader pokemons and all that.

Serene Blessing:
Description: Renny and Togekiss are so synced in their harmonic and peaceful relationship, their powerful example create a radius of happiness and good fortune. Such luck is so powerful it can cause attacks targetting them to miss or be utterly ineffective. Those who becalm themselves and thus spread the peace and harmony expand the aura and its protective power.
Effect: Renny/Togekiss is under the influence of an unbreakable Protect while able to perform their normal action. Allies of Renny in the same battle can expend similar amounts of rage to apply Protect to themselves and their charges or to someone else they desire to protect while still able to perform their move for the turn. Thus someone can pay double price if they want to protect themselves and someone else who is low on rage.

Useful for granting a turn of buff, healing, or alpha striking without getting hurt at all, at the cost of some rage (although that can be mitigated somewhat by the fact that you still get your action for the turn to generate it, but if you spend rage for the protection, you might not have enough to use some other abilities that use it.)

Alternatively... (Or maybe I can use this following one for Lola-SyncTech...)

Plenty and Prosperity
Description: Renny and Togekiss well-wishes for their friends comes in the form of gifts. Even a single gift can sustain the well-being of several friends! If used with an offensive item, foes will do well to fear Renny's gift of supportive firepower.
Effect: This counts as an item use action. Choose a single item. Its effect is applied to as many allies or foes on the field as desired, keeping its full effect for each and every one. Thus one Full Restore will heal the entire party entirely. Supreme Upgrade will give EVERYONE 3 stages boost to all stats (Those with Simple ability like Mollesk get 6 to all stats!). Suppressive Haze will knock off 25 rage from all foes. Since it requires said targets to be on the field, pokemons that are recalled don't get the effect. Effect may be drastically reduced for revival items.

Here are my ideas for Pierce's Co-op technique and Signature Sequences:

Co-op Technique (Tyranitar & Blaziken)
Hellfire: Tyranitar launches four enemies into the sky with a powerful Earthquake, while Blaziken leaps into the air and delivers a powerful aerial beatdown to the enemies. Then Tyranitar pummels them with large rocks using Stone Edge, and Blaziken fires a powerful Overheat until finally the unlucky targets come crashing to the ground in a large fireball.
Effect: Critical damage dealt to four targets. 80% chance to inflict burn status on all targets.
Consumes 80/100 Rage Points.

Signature Sequence (Shizuka)
Apple Rain: Shizuka causes a shower of apples to fall from the sky, and she and Pierce split all of them in half in a flurry of strikes, dealing damage to five enemies.
Effect: Extreme damage dealt to five enemies.
Consumes 80/100 Rage Points.

Signature Sequence (Chizuru)
(no name yet): Chizuru taunts six enemies (regardless of type) and skillfully dodges their attacks. Then she and Pierce counterattack.
Effect: Six enemies' turns nullified. Small damage dealt to enemies.
Consumes 50/100 Rage Points.

Gotta think of a name for that last one.

EDIT: Y'know, I'm kinda worried I may be underestimating Rage Points. For all I know, they're going to be dropping like party favors.

I wonder what Charlotte would've said if Pierce hadn't added the "within reason" clause to his offer.

Multi-hit attacks will not generate more Rage than single-hit attacks.

Testament Drives will no longer self-activate upon defeat. No more Legend Bombing for you.

And I thought Geminex sent me a PM saying everyone agreed that he was the leader? Well, you all can work together on deciding formation setup and DSS slot allocation.

And fine, here's a goddamned sexy picture! Whiny little nose-pickin' perverts...

So, which girl gets hotter when she grows up?

May or...

Misty?

Either way, I'd definitely play a lot more Pokemon if I knew I'd have a traveling companion like that. Catching powerful animals is fine, but everyone knows that kids, especially grown up kids, would really go on an RPG-style adventure to find the hawtness they just can't find in their cozy little four-house village. Pretty RPG anime girls are what we really want to catch all of.

As for example Pokemon Co-Ops, Dracorian did an excellent job of creating some. I could approve any of those. Use those as a template.

Not yet. Not until Mission 4 ends, I believe.

Which reminds me:

That's what you said, AB. Does that mean they'd be accessories, like scarves? Pretty little things that waste a pokemon's only item slot but don't really do anything? Or are they functional items?
