Part 3.14 of my ongoing series: Nique is a grown-ass man talking about cartoons
Another Superman/Batman animated film was released a couple days ago. In addition to being a pretty decent feature by itself, these DC movies are fun to have becuase they come loaded with bonus stuff. They usually include at least 4 different episodes from Superman, Batman or Justice League animated shows, plus a short featuring a lesser DCU hero e.g. Green Arrow, Jonah Hex, the Spectre.
Superman/Batman Apocolypse is based on the most recent Supergirl introduced in the Superman/Batman monthly title like a billion years ago. This was a decent adaptation, but they (again) deviate from the comic's script in a few ways for seemingly no reason. This is probably not as jarring if you aren't an obsessed nerd. Summer Glau on mic for Supergirl - her preformance ranges from lousy to acceptably lousy, which was kind of a bummer since I thought she was going to rock this. I'm hoping they get to doing Hush as a two part animated title and please get Jim Lee in on this action. EDIT: Also, I have no idea where else to bring this up but when are we not banned anymore?

They've got Tim Daly as Superman, Kevin Conroy as Batman and Ed Asner as Granny Goodness!?
I'm watching this just for those guys reprising their DCAU roles. squeeeee It's something that's bothered me with the other post DCAU animated movies, the lack of the VAs from the Batman/Superman/Justice League Series. I've been spoiled by them.

I haven't seen this one yet, but Superman/Batman Public Enemies was pretty enjoyable. Especially the few parts with Captain Marvel. I'm not sure what it is about him, but I thought he was the best part of the movie.

I stopped watching Batman animated movies after Mask of the Phantasm. Seriously, they don't get much better than that.
You wanna talk cartoons? My Pet Monster is where it is at!

I honestly thought this was the weakest DCAU movie yet. The designs were not suited to the animation, the script was poor and skipped around so much that you didn't ever get any time to connect with the characters, and the dialogue was very stilted and crappy. Darkseid didn't feel threatening at all. And that shopping scene? Are you fucking kidding me?
Not to mention that there was absolutely nothing new introduced in this story. Every single plotline had previously been touched on--and done far better--on the Superman animated series. I think WB used up all their DCAU-awesome-allocation on Under the Red Hood earlier this year; Apocalypse barely felt like an effort compared to that.

Yeah, I know he had almost no lines, but the few he had just seemed so awesome. I want a Captain Marvel animated movie based on his appearence in that.

(Basing the character judgment on Supergirl from the comic that this movie is based on, she may be less-terrible or more-terrible in the movie)

every superman thing always ends up being so lame. It always turns into a World of cardboard speech then superman upping his damn power-level to win. batman at least has to outsmart him.
